The Senate voted 82-15 on Tuesday to end debate on a motion to proceed to a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
The Senate is expected to continue work on the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act throughout June. The next vote will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday that will be on the actual motion to proceed to the bill.
The four Republican members of the Gang of Eight Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Jeff Flake (R- Ariz.) were joined by more than 20 other GOP senators in voting to advance the debate. That strong support is expected to dwindle if certain amendments aren't agreed to.
"As an elected leader in my party, its my view that we at least need to try to improve a situation that as far as I can tell very few people believe is working well either for our own citizens, or for those around the world who aspire to become Americans," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said ahead of the vote Tuesday. "Ill vote to debate it and for the opportunity to amend it, but in the days ahead there will need to be major changes to this bill if its going to become law."

If the roots of this don’t go back to April 9, 1865; maybe they go to March 31, 2005, when the American people cheered as a helpless disabled woman was starved before our eyes.
I agree with you that GA has hardly ever elected anyone good, and I doubt that will change.
I looked carefully at your list and did not see my traitorous idiotic senator LaRaza Rubio’s name. Then I figured you may have been counting him as a democrat already which would be appropriate.
If he skipped the vote, I’m sure it’s because he does not want to be on record as voting yes. He will be up for re-election in 4 years and the fraudulent “conservative” wants to be able to remind everyone of his high ACU rating when he runs.
Boehner will certainly sell us out. Past is Prologue.
Exactly.
It’s good that Republican voters tend to be individuals; but the crisis is too great to quarrel over four or five “conservative” primary candidates and then allow the liberal to win by default.
You must be reading Toomey’s mind, but Toomey will never get 1,302-0 in select Philadelphia precincts.
Actually we are probably going to replace Chambliss next year with now rep Paul Broun a hair on fire conservative.
I have nearly given up ... Praise God He let me live when He did ... and Praise God He let me be alive long enough to see what America and Americans were warned of coming to pass. I know not what God has in store for me in the coming near time ... I Praise Him though for what He has allowed me to see.
REMEMBER THAT 16 REPUBLICANS VOTED FOR CLOTURE ON THE GUN BILL AS WELL! IT’S NOT OVER! KEEP CALLING!
You got a problem with me including my friend AuntB ???
I think you broke the code.It has been downhill for the GOP and America ever since.
Folks may want to read the following post from earlier today.

Meh. So, there are a lot of pussified asshats in the senate who think it has some meaning to anyone but their fellow toe-tapping butt buddies to be ‘reasonable’ and ‘have the debate’.
The rubber meets the road when it’s time to end debate. People went ballistic about the gun bill getting it’s first vote to start debate and it did pass the 60 vote threshold to end debate. Time will tell if this does.
On a related note: I wonder if Mark Kirk had another stroke or if the effects of the first one made him push the wrong button.
Did I say that?
Having recently reread a history of the French revolution, I feel that it appears to be the eventual outcome of the current Alice-in-Wonderland “bizarrity”. Time will tell.
whoops!
...it did NOT pass the 60 vote threshold...
I don’t know much about the French Revolution, but they were an advanced cultured society that spun out of control and into mayhem and chaos rather easily.
We have never experienced this, but how can we think defying natural laws will result in a different ending?
What is telling though is nothing is changing for the better. We are told these issues are not going away (all of these issues) by leaders. They keep coming back, over and over and over. These issues should not even be up for debate yet consistently they make it to the floor for debate. Guns aka the Second, Free Speech aka the First and what is illegal should be legal. This causes angst where there should be none over what should be decided issues in America. Eventually one looks at the homosexual agenda and then the moslem agenda and one sees them winning when they should not be winning. I have voted since was of legal age and done my best to obey the law, and what is the government that is supposed to be representing America and Americans doing? Is heartbreaking.
