NSA Leaker Comes Forward: ‘I Know I Have Done Nothing Wrong’
The Blaze ^ | 6-9-2013 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Posted on 06/09/2013 12:16:55 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

A 29-year-old former CIA worker and current defense contractor employee has come forward as the source of the National Security Agency leaks to The Guardian newspaper:

The individual responsible for one of the most significant leaks in US political history is Edward Snowden, a 29-year-old former technical assistant for the CIA and current employee of the defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton. Snowden has been working at the National Security Agency for the last four years as an employee of various outside contractors, including Booz Allen and Dell.

The Guardian, after several days of interviews, is revealing his identity at his request. From the moment he decided to disclose numerous top-secret documents to the public, he was determined not to opt for the protection of anonymity. “I have no intention of hiding who I am because I know I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

Snowden will go down in history as one of America’s most consequential whistleblowers, alongside Daniel Ellsberg and Bradley Manning. He is responsible for handing over material from one of the world’s most secretive organisations – the NSA.

In a note accompanying the first set of documents he provided, he wrote: “I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions,” but “I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant.”

I agree with you. And how did I forget ‘DHS’? Great point. We need to find out what the REAL purpose of their hollow point ammo is. THAT is disconcerting. Hollow points are NOT for training. Napolitano has been quiet lately. What’s up with that? Face lift like Hillary maybe?

My money is on this guy. He's far smarter than Obama and Obama's henchmen... and I guarantee that he's has plenty of dirt of a lot of important people. This is going to be the story of a lifetime... far more so than Watergate ever was.

Yes. Yes. Yes and yes!

I doubt he is really in Hong Kong. That is just to throw the scent off for the dogs. He would be far safer in the world’s largest democracy.

Not much doubt in my mind that DHS is the main recipient of this domestic intelligence. Nor do I doubt it has and will continue to be used for political purposes. Coup in progress as Rush says. Back when the Patriot Act was being debated, those who warned that freedom and security conflict at points, were not listened to. Now we have a tyrant in office who won’t hesitate to play the “safe” card.

I think I speak for all FReepers when I say this guy is a real traitor and deserves to have all the full weight of the law come down on him.

I think I speak for all FReepers when I say We the People don’t need to know what the government is doing to us, especially if they say it is for our own good.

Especially if they say they keep us safe.

Being kept safe from the terrorism is worth anything the government could ever do to us.

If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide.

I think I speak for all FReepers when I say that the government can do to us whatever they deem they need to do because they are pretty much holy and trustworthy and never lie to us.

I think I speak for all FReepers when I say, “Pleas probe me if it keeps me safe. Nothing is more important than safety.”

He can always commit ‘suicide’.

Alternatively, he might be detained by the Chinese and taken back to Beijing for a little friendly chat.

The HK authorities could also directly rendition him back to the US, and I can see that happening as well.

“wow. very intelligent, articulate, insightful, and courageous man. 29 years old! I applaud his commitment to transparency here.”

He was working for our nation’s intelligence services. He leaked classified information. He’s a traitor, even if he thought he had good motives.

My country, right or wrong. Let her always be right, but my country regardless.

So, the dude is a Chinese agent of some sort ~ either the Chicoms own him, or some counter revolutionary gang of Chinese interested in overthrowing the Chicom regime.

He imagines he's safe ~ for now ~ but he's not.

Plenty of people in China don't want their phone calls, emails, and other electronic communications tapped by anyone ~ not each other ~ not by us ~

The boy is too white to survive this. Easy target in fact.

Information soon to include your medical information and DNA sequence?

I’m to understand you’re OK with that?

Most FReepers who are sane understand that things like privacy, liberty, rights end when the FEAR of TERROR begins and when our government tells us its for our own good.

What rights or liberty can you have if you are dead? The government says its for our own good and to keep us safe and alive. That's good for sane FReepers, you kooky-kook.

Remember, like most sane FReepers know, if you've done nothing wrong, what are you worried about?

Remember 9/11: most FReepers agree safety is more important than liberty.

So you’re the kind of guy who would accept a job with the CIA or NSA, swear not to reveal its secrets, and then go back on that promise if you decided you weren’t on board with the policies of a particular administration.

Or you’re the kind of guy who admires someone who does.

I hope you’re never in a position to act on those views.

I've actually known about Converse Technology, Inc. (PRISM, or whatever) since around 1994. The company merged with Verint Systems, Inc. early this year. This video discusses how the Verint Communications and Cyber Intelligence products and solutions help make the world a safer place (i.e. a less private place).

Verint Communications and Cyber Intelligence Products

So he really didn't reveal anything that a lot of folks don't already know. What else does he have? Did the NSA target people who mentioned words like "Tea Party" or "Patriot"?

Hell, I've had phone and email conversations with people in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq and Dubai over the last couple of years, but it was business. And of course I knew I was being watched, but as far as terrorism, I have nothing to fear. However as far as persecution for my political beliefs, this I do fear. I have lost all faith in the government.

Bradley Manning is not a whistle blower. He is a traitor to the country, responsible for uncounted deaths of our soldiers and the locals who helped them. This young man would be wise to not allow such comparisons to be made.
