AirVenture is not just a big deal to the aviation community, or even the city of Oshkosh, WI. Estimates are that the week-long "Worlds Greatest Aviation Celebration" has a $110 million economic impact on the state. So when the FAA demanded that EAA pony up about a half million dollars to pay for air traffic controllers to work the show, it got the attention of the state's two U.S. Senators.

I know for a fact that controllers take vacation time to volunteer to work Oshkosh. I know several of them.
They aren't costing the FAA a dime.
Oshkosh is too corporate now. EAA won’t rock the boat and put their corporate sponsors in a bad spot. They will probably just raise ticket prices on Joe Six Pack to cover the cost.
just another way of lying and misleading the public to make any reduction in gummint spending feel as painful as possible
Even if they were, federal excise taxes on aviation fuel PAYS for general aviation air traffic control. The FAA wants to get paid twice for this 'service.'
Is Air Venture “duke-ing” our Emperor ?
Another option is for the EAA to fire the FAA and handle it themselves. No gov unions allowed. How long before the FAA unions screamed to participate. Don’t want to be perceived as easily replaceable.... Which they are.
And it is all done without radar or 2 way communication. All one way radio traffic from the traffic co-ordinators.
We already paid for it.
FAA motto: "We're not happy until you're not happy..."
Do you remember when Moochelle said we need to change our History?
Fly-in's & Air-Shows are the last unbridled display of American Excellence and Patriotism period.
That is why I was so furious that our Military Grads didn't get a fly-over, they are trying to change our History and our Culture
Screw Her and the Horse She Road in On.
Jarrett was right, they will get back at their enemies and screw with them. Do you have any idea how many folks that go to OSH are Conservative? It is a huge number, so many Uncle Rushie fans their, it be easier to count who doesn't listen.
And this is from someone that has been to OSH so many times I can't recall and not as just a spectator.
I may not make it to OSH for other reasons this year, but I can't stand what these pukes are doing to my Country.
