Gay Therapy
Gay conversion therapy, as it is known, supposedly helps gay people overcome same-sex attractions. But mainstream psychologists say the therapy is ineffective, unethical and often harmful, exacerbating anxiety and self-hatred among those treated for what is not a mental disorder.
In 2013, two cases involving the therapy to convert gay people into heterosexuals hit the courts, with one seeking to sue counselors who offer the therapy and the other seeking to defend them.
Here are five things you need to know about the therapy and the current lawsuits.

LiveScience aka dead science.
“Psychology” is rather feeble when faced with a spiritual problem. Paraphilias are spiritual problems.
Oh it most certainly is, and always has been a mental disorder.
It is larger: a spiritual disorder. The reduction of the human spirit to mere psychology is one of the biggest disasters of modernism. Biologically provable influences apart (and there’s nothing inherently wrong with compassionate use of psych drugs) — it’s like trying to fix a car with, not a whole toolkit, but a dull knife.
I’d rather study relativity than make sense of this position.
That’s what I said, you should be familiar with this lefty writer after posting so many of her articles.
You handpicked this article promoting the homosexual agenda from a lame, homosexual activist, writer.
The title might be misleading or need a barf alert and so? Ask for the barf alert and move on. Most freepers are smart enough to delve a little to see what’s up.
I don’t need to ignore posts made to me and stay off the thread, unless that was some kind of order.
A suggestion that you do something constructive if something’s misleading. Not just sit and gnaw and gnaw.
LiveScience is DeadSpirituality.
Why don’t you quit gnawing at nothing, and get back to your own life?
Do they really want us to remind them that it was a political charade devoid of scientific facts, instead relying on two shaky "studies," one by a homosexual pedophile who studied pathological prison populations and the rape of small children and the other by a politically motivated hack who merely interviewed her homosexual friends and gave them Rorschach tests to determine psychological health?
Do they really want us to bring up the well-documented extreme harassment of APA members over years, the deceit employed in the voting process, and the bizarre, obscene behavior of activist homosexuals as they took over APA conventions and meetings?
Do they really think any of this is normal?
You know that's our fault, don't you? (/sarc)
Well, Star, I did look. It looks like a rather lightweight, cherry picked critique which, furthermore, mostly dealt with psychology-based rather than spirituality-based counseling. Spirituality, when tied into a small-o orthodox Christian faith, can be quite powerful. Homosexuality or other paraphilia can be a spiritual “flat tire” permitted by a God who is interested in saving an entire soul. The person thus helped isn’t going to bother being interviewed by atheistic or weak-God scientists any more than the blind man who Jesus gave his sight would bother.
Your own petty pot shot shows you have nothing better... look at what I just told Star, if you want to see something constructive.
That’s nice, now maybe you can get back to the thread and quit gnawing at me and let me read the constructive posts on this Eveningstar handpicked article promoting the homosexual agenda.
Jesus’ work is... NICE?
Is this your level?
Forth through fifth grade. Had a high-black male math teacher who dressed "fabulously" and was extremely flamboyant - neck scarf, satin shirts and all. One of the most hateful men I'd ever met up until that point. He would literally beat students with a ruler and holler at them. I was petrified of him.
Also had a band teacher in High School who liked to touch my developing peach fuzz mustache. Lived alone in my neighborhood. Later found out that he had been murdered.
Another high school teacher, a humanities teacher, was probably in his 50's. He disappeared abruptly from teaching and we learned that he died, apparently from some disease. This was in the early 80's.
Yeah, these people are all SO normal.
Good Lord , have you become my stalker?
You want to jump on the thread and go after me in behalf of Evening star?
Weird, now you do troll baiting and try to use Jesus?
You really are acting bizarre, and how I became your obsession is a puzzle, but there must be some thread from the past that you are carrying around, you should share it with me so I know what kind of odd stalker I’m dealing with.
OK, you complained about a hinky situation. Fair enough. But that’s about as far as you could constructively get.
I am not some casual flinger-arounder of the name of Jesus. Go to my freep page and read it and then I dare you to say that again to me with a straight face.
Wow, you are in the Ozone tonight, just rambling and raging, and angry as all get out that I posted to Evening Star and using Jesus to do it even.
You need to get a grip on yourself, you might want to go look at your first arrogant post to me and take your own advice, while I try to get back to the thread topic, the article, the lefty author, and responding to the thread poster.
