Very cool road trip tonight! :)
Good evening, Sand...((HUGS))...hope you and Maddi had a wonderful day!
Yes, those ordnance workers DO deserve respect. d:o)
Several years ago, I was visiting Fort Pickens State Park near Pensacola. In addition to the old fort there are several batteries constructed in the Spanish American War era.
I noticed one of them had a newly installed disappearing cannon. I guess I should say newly reinstalled as that is the gun originally there.
It was an interesting cannon which was only raised to where it would be vulnerable to fire right before it was fired. Recoil would then drive it back down where it was hidden. BTW it was a very large cannon.
I recall the name Watervliet Arsenal on it. I had no idea what that was at the time.

Aint that stuff illegal in NY?
Yall should prolly send that stuff to Tx
Ft Pickens is a cool place.
Yes I could spend all day going through the fort and all those batteries. I think some of them were used in WWII tho I doubt Pensacola was ever threatened by anyone’s Navy.
Well now that I think about it, German Subs did patrol that area very heavily.
LOL! You make a good point, my. They should move. NY doesn’t want anything that goes boom.
Good evening, yarddog...thanks for the interesting addition. And now you know what/where Watervliet Arsenal is.
Thanks, unique, for the perfect woohoo.
I have been in lots of those old bunkers, from Fla to Hi to Ponape.
Cool to explore.
Ones is Hi are are still used.
Well we wouldn’t want anyone getting hurt or bein skeered, so We’ll just collect that stuff up and be on our way.
