IRS woes grow with report of conference spending

The Internal Revenue Service, already under fire after officials disclosed that the agency targeted conservative groups, faces increased scrutiny because of an inspector general’s report that it spent about $50 million to hold at least 220 conferences for employees between 2010 and 2012.

The report by the Treasury Department’s inspector general about conference spending is set to be released Tuesday. The department issued a statement Sunday saying the administration “has already taken aggressive and dramatic action to reduce conference spending.”

The White House and the agency were on the defensive before the report on conference spending. Agency officials and the Obama administration have said the targeting of conservative groups was inappropriate, but the political tempest is showing no signs of ebbing. …

$50 million in 2 years! These “conferences” were clearly perks for the party apparatchiks, intended to secure their loyalty and gratitude and also to give them the feeling that they were specially privileged. The Soviets used to do that for their apparatchiks and clearly they created the model Obama is following.

The outrage should be over the number of conferences. How could they possibly need 220 conferences?

How many American families live a with a lower standard of living because a big bite of their paycheck goes to taxes?

IRS partying on the back of the American working man. They should be ashamed of themselves.

What am I thinking, shame does not exist in the liberal world (except when to use against a conservative).

The fish rots from the head.

This all leads right to Obama's door.

Of course, Obama continues to profess to knowing nothing...
All of these scandals lead right to the top of a corrupt, criminal regime.

Feigning ignorance and scapegoating subordinates is not an answer to criminal activity.

obama i know nothing
obama what is it you do around here couch liar
obama hang curtains

It's treated differently when it's a Republican President...

The “Cupid Shuffle” IRS dance video has got to go viral:

This would be hilarious if it were but one odd and isolated event.

Hey, it takes a lot of expensive coordination to effectively hound your political opponents.

IRS woes grow with report of conference spending

THERE ARE NO IRS "WOES"

So someone has reported on their activities. So what? Will there be any criminal prosecutions and jail time for any of it? Of course not. Will the $50,000,000 have to be repaid by the employees who had fun at the taxpayers' expense? Of course not. Will the IRS be constrained from terrorizing citizens because of this? Of course not. I repeat there are no "woes" to the IRS employees

The two best aspects of any government job are

  1. You spend money other people worked for, and
  2. You never have to face any consequences for anything you do.

How come the names of the acting and permanent Secretaries of the Treasury appointed on Obama's watch (2008 to present) are never mentioned in these IRS scandal disclosures and investigations?

The names of these past and present cabinet members are Levey, Geithner, Wolin and Lew.

We know that Obama seldom, almost never, holds cabinet meetings. Has one of his three dozen or more shadowy, commie czars been running the IRS from behind the scenes....i.e. advising, recommending and undoubtedly guiding the president in the path of using the the IRS as a political tool?

Were and are Obama's Treasury secretaries just figureheads....with Obama and an unknown cabal running the Department from behind the scenes?

I'll bet not one citizen could name the present or past couple of Treasury secretaries if he was given a million bucks to do so. They seem to be hidden away, distancing themselves from the scandal. Of course, these cabinent heads report to the president....who also distances himself from all scandals.

From the IRS directorship and management....up through the cabinet.....from there to the president.....THEY ARE ALL SLIMEY AND SLIPPERY WORMS.

Having worked for a company (now bankrupt) that also paid for these silly "conferences", I would attribute these to incompetence, not malice. I'm sure there were some high level, highly paid "Human Resource" types, buried in the bowels of the organization that convinced the "suits" that these were meaningful, and would also increase the efficiency of the organization.

Fortunately, they don't work. The last thing we need is an effective IRS.

A presenter was paid $17,000 for a talk on ‘leadership through art’. Which means how to do propaganda. this is how the Administration and the left purchase artists by the carload.

I imagine all of the big departments do this; hand out $$ to artists, scholars, musicians etc. and this is how they outright buy ‘creative’ artists.

Well, that’s socialism for you. Some animals are more equal than others.

You’re either in the government, or you starve.
