Though he had no idea what it was, the annual “Bush Center Warrior 100K” mountain bike ride, which took place over the Memorial Day weekend, upset Bill Maher. “I guess they walked or ran or something on their prosthetic limbs,” Maher sneered about George W. Bush’s ride around his Texas ranch with 20 servicemen, “and I found this to be nauseating. I mean, first he sends them off to war to get their limbs blown off and then he has them over for a barbecue.”
Maher then equated the former President with Ariel Castro, the kidnaper who held captive multiple women for a decade and murdered their un-born babies: “This is like the Cleveland guy having a pizza party for those girls he had in his basement.”
Maher Calls Bike Ride with Wounded Warriors 'Nauseating,' Compares Bush to Cleveland Kidnaper
That was too much even for panelist Neera Tandem, an architect of ObamaCare who now runs the left-wing Center for American Progress. She interjected: “Maybe that’s a little much.”
But it wasn’t too much for actress Brit Marling, who insisted: “I think you can go even farther. I think it’s sort of sadistic.”
It’s a safe bet most wounded soldiers would rather take a bike ride with Bush than Maher or Marling.
From the May 31 Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO:
BILL MAHER: George Bush, over the Memorial Day weekend, held the Wounded Warrior 100K, which was a kind of a celebration for wounded warrior who is came back from Iraq and I guess they walked or ran or something on their prosthetic limbs. And I found this to be nauseating. I mean, first he sends them off to war to get their limbs blown off and then he has them over for a barbecue. This is like the Cleveland guy having a pizza party for those girls he had in his basement.
NEERA TANDEN: Maybe that’s a little much.
ACTRESS BRIT MARLING: I think you can go even farther. I think it’s sort of sadistic. It’s very tragic when something like that happens and the idea that like these amputees, the technology that is allowing them to do these things is somehow something to celebrate. People shouldn’t be over there losing limbs in the first place.

These guys and women too are such great positive thinkers, many of them. They put some of us pretty much healthy folks to shame don’t they.
What a douchebag. And Time-Lies-Warner-Turner supports him (he’s not just on HBO but on advertiser supported CNN as a “commentator”).
Defund the Left. Boycott Time-Warner and their advertisers.
Wonder what they would say about the Nuge taking wounded warriors shooting autofire weapons down at his ranch near Waco?
Only if I could go too.
I know, I'm being selfish.

Not a Maher fan, and he goes too far, but... to a certain point, he does have reason.
Does anyone here not believe that we would have far less dead and wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan had Bush/Rumsfeld/Petreaus/et al not over-reacted to the al-Ghraib controversy and enforced (for years) overly restrictive Queensbury rules of engagement in both countries (in a way that was not in evidence during the initial invasion of each country)? Sorry, but that was playing politics with our troops in a way that would have been unthinkable during WWII.
I do believe Bush rightly should (and, likely, does) feel some guilt. Otherwise, why is he constantly seeming to “do penance” by (admittedly, in a respectful manner) promoting the cause of wounded vets?
Now, this in no way, of course, exculpates the current resident of the White House, as he has only made the overly restrictive rules ever more restrictive, and, if I detect his sentiments correctly, he — unlike Bush — feels ZERO guilt over any ill effects his policies may have on the life, health, and/or morale of our troops.

When you tell a liberal that these war vets fight tooth and nail to return to duty, they fix you with a blank stare. I firmly believe they “erase” the comment because it doesn’t jibe with their false beliefs.
Now there’s a guy thinking on all cylinders. :^)

Every time I think Maher cannot drop lower than whale poop....he surprises me...he can...
The queer saw men and became sick of his own inadequacy.
My two kids and their spouses were wearing a uniform on 9/11. I was, by God, going back, if they would have me.

Awesome. Post #3 request. Thanks.
Why do they call this waste of oxygen a “comedian”? I would have thought that to be called a comedian you’d actually have to be at least a little bit funny.
I turned it off in the middle of his conversation, I swore I would never listen to him again, and haven't. I've never been nauseated by any speaker as quickly at any time in my life. It literally made me sick to listen to him.
Maher got into it for calling the 9/11 hijackers brave and our guys cowards for launching missiles from thousands of miles away. The next time he has a faux conservative/ fool conservative on I’d like to see him ask Bill what he thinks of Obama’s drone policy. I don’t have anything against using the drones but I would like to see Maher explain how that’s noble under zero bur guided missiles under Bush were evil.
You mean it isn't? Oops.
He couldn't find it with both hands.
