Test flight of the New Mexico Tech Sounding Rocket Design Team's rocket.
This team of Mechanical Engineering students includes senior, junior, and sophomore students who have worked throughout the 2012-2013 academic year to design and build a rocket capable of carrying a 10 lb payload to 10,000 feet above ground level.
The team will be competing in the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association student competition in June 2013. This video is from the first test flight of the team's competition rocket.

This video is pretty interesting.
They combine the drama a slow-motion cinema soundtrack style music with hero-pose drama walking down a corridor to a control room where they launch a rocket in the style of old-school NASA suspense and pre-launch tension.
Enjoy!
I DID enjoy, thanks.
Nicely done, right down to the white shirts and pocket protectors.
Great effort NM types
The real thing.
The movie.
The first time I saw it, I went back and forth between laughing and being awestruck.
Some high school kids from Fredericksburg, TX fired one off that hit 36,000 feet at White Sands.

I’ve jumped out of perfectly good airplanes at 13,500’.
This is no big deal.....
Hell, I could make a great combat movie if I could find my little green army guys and my BlackCat firecrackers/S
The guy holding the camera must have been drunk at around 2:25 — couldn’t hold it steady at all!
bttt

NMT is my favorite Alma Mater.
Always was something interesting going on there.
The launch area is probably the spot where they also do some explosive testing. It’s right off Hwy 60 a few miles east of Magdalena.
Hmmm.
I’m not sure. I wasn’t at the launch, I just got the link and posted it here.
