Classy, eh? Andrew Kaczynski discovered this lovely eulogy from C-SPAN’s archives in which the man who wants to run Virginia said that his 83-year-old father couldn’t handle seeing a Republican President:
Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor of Virginia, once blamed his fathers death on President George W. Bushs election in 2000.
In a May 2001 interview with C-SPAN, titled the Life and Career of Terry McAuliffe, the former Democratic National Committee chairman says one of the reasons his father, Jack, died was he could not go into a new year knowing that a Republican was actually moving into the White House.
While his father was in the hospital, McAuliffes mother went and came back in five minutes later, and he had passed away. And I told the story, you know, I gave at the eulogy at his funeral, and there are many reasons why people thought Jack had died, McAuliffe told C-SPAN. He was 83 years old. And I said the main reason is that he could not go into a new year knowing that a Republican was actually moving into the White House. I just dont think he couldve handled that.
He had eight great years, McAullife continued. President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton were so nice to my mother and father, theyd come down all the time. So he had a great eight years when President Clinton and Vice President Gore were in office, and he just wasnt going into a new year with a Democrat not being in the White House Steve, he just couldnt handle it.
Be sure to watch the video at BuzzFeed. I’ve heard a lot of “blame Bush” over the last five years, but this one takes the cake.
Here’s the video for those who want to watch:

His hate killed him.
Let’s hope many more from the party fo the KKK follow him.
Actually the atomic bombing of Hiroshima was cause by Bush senior joining the Navy. And some relative way back caused the Civil War. Then there was .....
Wasn’t he alive during Reagan? Why didn’t he die then?
An excellent point. And if he was put into a state of suspended animation / hibernation from 81-92, why didn't they do it again?
Of all the FOB, McAulliffe is probably the smarmiest and that’s saying something.
You guys think too small. Paw McAuliff should have let his fear of a Republican presidency kill him early in Eisenhower’s presidency. Then there would have been no Terry McAuliff (born 1957).
No, if what you say is true, your dad killed himself.
yes....like the Fonz, mcAulliffe jumped the shark a long time ago.
I think Rush has him pegged, when he calls him “The Punk”
Good point there too. But maybe he was a Republican then, and later got jaded?
Another Dem assumes room temperature. Boo-hoo.
I don't know, I think blaming Bush for the failed policies of his successor to be a cake topper. Bush, who all dems believe is stupid, Bush, who has no power, cannot and does not create policy, cannot veto law and has no control over the current affairs of the country is responsible for what this current president does? I know that sounds incredibly surreal but more of my liberal family members believe everything bad that happens is Bush's fault and not Obama's. Yes, they are liberal idiots.
Hopefully, it’s contagious.
He died on Jan 31, 2000. Shows how much confidence his father had in the Dems winning the recounts. If I loved a President that much and could choose whether or not to leave this earth I would hang around until his last day in office.
Nixon’s election should have also sent him packing.
