When Peter Sprigg speaks publicly about his opposition to homosexuality, something odd often happens.
During his speeches, people raise their hands to challenge his assertions that the Bible condemns homosexuality, but no Christians speak out to defend him.
“But after it is over, they will come over to talk to me and whisper in my ear, ‘I agree with everything you said,’" says Sprigg, a spokesman for The Family Research Council, a powerful, conservative Christian lobbying group.
We’ve heard of the “down-low” gay person who keeps his or her sexual identity secret for fear of public scorn. But Sprigg and other evangelicals say changing attitudes toward homosexuality have created a new victim: closeted Christians who believe the Bible condemns homosexuality but will not say so publicly for fear of being labeled a hateful bigot.
As proof, Sprigg points to the backlash that ESPN commentator Chris Broussard sparked recently. Broussard was called a bigot and a purveyor of hate speech when he said an NBA player who had come out as gay was living in “open rebellion to God.” Broussard said the player, Jason Collins, was “living in unrepentant sin” because the Bible condemns homosexuality.
“In the current culture, it takes more courage for someone like Chris Broussard to speak out than for someone like Jason Collins to come out,” says Sprigg, a former pastor. “The media will hail someone who comes out of the closet as gay, but someone who simply expresses their personal religious views about homosexual conduct is attacked.”
When is disagreement hate?
Bryan Litfin, a theology professor at Moody Bible Institute in Illinois, says Christians should be able to publicly say that God designed sex to take place within a marriage between a man and a woman.

However, in all honesty I believe some of the “blame” falls directly at the feet of many well-meaning pastors who have scolded their congregations into silence. They have told members that we should not focus on the sin of homosexuality, which is true in part, but the implication many heard was to stifle their criticism of the practice of this sin.
Then, many well meaning churches ran to comfort those with AIDS. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, but many did so out of tacit embarrassment of their Christian brethren who sought to speak out against the practice of homosexuality. Churches held out those with AIDS as those with Leprosy in Jesus day. Very bad analogy and you see how Christians got the message that they need to shut up about the sin of homosexuality.
OH around maybe 30 AD or so.
I detest the double standards and secular elitism surrounding this issue, but come on. Stop whining, stand up, defend yourself. Did God not condemn those who were ashamed of Him?

My brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, in Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, China, and North Korea are faced with the possibility of imprisonment and death for their belief. We have no such excuse for weakness.
I’m not saying you need to be a street preacher, but don’t let these a$$holes walk all over you and tell you that their subjective morality is worth a damn.

You can already be fired if you are against gay marriage, even if you don’t mention it at work and are good at your job. Cisco fired a successful trainer because somewhere online he disagreed with gay marriage. His manager said he was great at his job, and never mentioned anything inappropriate at work, but the manager found online he was not for gay marriage.
A true bigot is one who hates you for standing on your moral principles. The real haters are the radical militant homosexuals who will change you and scream down on you. Those are the most intolerant hateful bigots. I have been at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa when they have charge into the sanctuary and disrupted the service. Homosexual "tolerance" is a lie. The propaganda works only because people have been intimidated into silence.

TV/schools are all controlling perceptions in your children. They are reinforcing Evil is Good-—Truth is Evil——....forming their “Worldview”——what is “Good and Evil”. Parents are giving up “forming” worldview-—to the State certified goons.
People “feel” uncomfortable when they go against mass conformity—which was reinforced in our Prussian education system-—which is designed for mass conformity.

Christians are hated by the marxists who don’t want any church to be the source of moral teaching. Under communism, the state is the source of all concepts of right or wrong, so religion must be eliminated.

There is a solution..... evangelism.
No I dont think people speak out because they are afraid. People constantly lose jobs and businesses over this issue and there is no support for them within the community of people who agree with them.
Start taking a stand, Christians.
The Bible is clear. The root of sin is unbelief.
If you start to think that maybe the Bible did not mean what it says...then you are moving towards unbelief.
Two step simple process. First step is to have Faith in God. If you have faith in God you should have faith in His Word.
Those two being in place it should not matter what people think of you. You are in right step with God and who the heck cares what anyone may think of you.
Jesus was not widely accepted, he was rejected and despised according to prophet Isaiah. And when he came he was executed by His enmies for a sin He did not commit.
Count me as a follower of Jesus- not a follower of the latest wind or fad
