Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that despite the portrayal by the media of a deal for advanced missiles to be purchased from Russia as a future event, the fact is that Syria has already begun acquiring the S-300 missile system from Moscow.

I think Russia is a lot more tied to terrorist acts against the U.S. than we think. Just look at the Communist / Islamist bomb they installed in our WH. It was 47 years in development but damn is it the most effective weapon ever. It doesn’t just detonate once. It keeps causing damage on a daily basis. Works even better than any nuke would ever do.

Maybe Obama should send a strongly worded letter to Assad telling him not to cross that red line... oops.

Really, it’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys here.

I don’t believe him. If they were there, Israel would have already taken them out.

This system can shoot down Israeli planes inside Israel. And my understanding is that it can track up to 100 targets at once. If this report is true, this war is about to escalate very quickly.

I agree.

We heard the same thing about Iraq.

"The S-300 is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems currently fielded.[3] Its radars have the ability to simultaneously track up to 100 targets while engaging up to 12. S-300 deployment time is five minutes."

If that is the case, it worked just so swimmingly well for the Nuke Plant and most recently the weapons compound and the weapons convoy a day or two before that. Think is not a four letter word.

Has it ever been used in combat?

The day to day news reports are not important. Some of them are information, some are disinformation.

The larger picture is that the whole world is ganging up on Israel. That includes the United States. (Not the friends of Israel in the United States, but the government headed by a traitor and overrun with traitors.)

We are fast approaching the time when some idiot (probably in Syria) will push a button to start the prophesied Psalm 83 War on Israel. Israel, being small, cannot absorb much. Her leaders will have to respond with a massive, powerful retaliation in order to survive. They will not be able to do surgical strikes to take out enemy positions. That takes too long. They will have to take a blanket approach to stop all of the aggression within a few hours. The only way you can do that is with nuclear weapons.

I believe that we will see a hot war, with Israel at the center, within the next few weeks or months.

The good news is that Israel will win. It is written in the good book.

You will have to ask the Russians about that. What makes you think the Russians can not build an effective air defense system? This is their most advanced deployed system. Probably similar in ability to our Patriot air defense system.

Well, Assad didn’t have the missiles when those strikes took place and it’s not clear that he has them now. Putin only said he would transfer the missiles a few weeks ago. We’ll know Assad has the missiles when Israelis planes start getting shot down and Syrian kids appear on tv dancing around the wreckage.

Believe what you want, just sayin. The last two strikes we know of were just a few weeks ago. Go back and read the after action accounts of the nuke strike to gain a bit more perspective.

One more important rule, don’t ever believe “official” reports “leaked” to the press about anyone’s capabilities. Having been involved in certain “skunkworks” projects . . . take that as you will.

Will Russians or Syrians be operating the systems?

There was a combat exercise with a variation of this missile last year in Slovakia.

They don’t have a wondrous record of success. In Iraq, their vaunted T-72 tanks were a miserable failure as were their advanced jet fighters. They had some success with SAM’s in the 73 war but Israel really didn’t have experience with SAM’s. Over time, the Israelis were able to defeat the SAM’s.

Russian SAMs have failed over and over again throughout the last 40 years. Their missiles are usually better than the radars attached to them. They are much better at promotion than design.

The new system is a decent improvement on a 30 year-old technology. Isreal can defeat it, but will have some losses before completely eliminating it.

Agreed. Since Bibi Netanyahu is in charge they might also take out some missiles on the outskirts of Sverdlovsk. To make the message abundantly clear.
