Whew we just had a hit and run red cell come through. Good thing I have an umbrella over the grill or dinner would be chicken soup.

I can see the red/orange ones passing thru your area.
We had some the other night, which shook the condo. Street sewers overflowed and gushed 3ft up into the air. I had water 10-15ft on to my lawn. Just drizzle tonite.
Good job saving dinner. Nothing wrong with chicken soup, though.

We're saturated, up here. Get ready for 85-90°F temps over the next 5-6 days; summer's arriving and it's going to be another dry one. Glad I'm out of the farm/nursery business; I've been thru too many drought seasons over the past 22yrs.

Doesn’t the underside get kind of stained from all the food’s cooking smoke? You’re using LPG or charcoal?

I use a
cantilever umbrella that if you buy them in the winter their only $75...pretty much disposable after you buy the water filled weight. They last about 3 years and don't really get stained or smell, they get ripped or the cantilever breaks. They are a godsend when it's hot and sunny.

LPG with a bad ass smoker box and 30K BTU sere burner. I used to be only charcoal but then I got smart. Viking is the best except when it breaks.

Very sweet unit!
This Char-Broil® Patio Caddy Grille is what I'm now using at the condo; I can easily grill for 3-4 and a tank last 1-2 seasons. Stores next to the 15cuft top-loading freezer, in the garage. I grill all year long. I left my 3 large gas & charcoal Weber Kettles at the Farm.

I grill year round too as long as the temp is above 40°. Below that the propane won't flow plus it's just no fun.
Smoked a Boston Butt for 10 hours @ 200° for Memorial Day yesterday and boy was it tender.

My garage is heated and well-sealed, so I can wheel the small grill right out on to the driveway, at 10°F, in front of the Jeep, and cook. All the neighbors go nutz when I grill filets, bratwurst etc, as the smell drives 'em wild.

Have you ever done brats the Wisconsin way?
Simmer, not boil, in beer and water till fully cooked. Grill till golden brown but not so high a temp it can break the casings, very important, then return to beer and water, AKA broth, and let them soak up the broth for around 15 minutes. To die for. Moist and full of flavor. Courtesy of 50cal, a real Wisconsinite from up nort.

No, but I will try them now. Alcohol should boil-out of broth, so no big deal. I’ll search around for recipe. Thanks!
