Billy Joel never makes political statements on stage. He makes a point of not insulting his audience.

For a while, I thought Rage Against the Machine was actually a parody of a left-wing “radical” band- sort of like a politicized Spinal Tap.

That’s a perfectly reasonable assumption too.

In college, I dated a few black women. It seemed like their families had much stronger objections to interracial dating than the typical white family. Especially the families of the “upper crust” black women I associated with.

I can’t generalize from my anecdotal experience, but I have seen my observations corroborated by survey research.

Midler took the song in a come hither direction that I really liked then...and still like this version if I conjure the breathy Bette Midler circa 1972 .

Buggy Woogy Bugle Boy of Company B was Bette’s highwater mark. Now she’s just flushable.

>> Clooney is an actor, not a musician. The article is about musicians not actors. <<<

But if there's a no. #1 example of a top liberal activist celebrity that gullible conservatives fork over money to, it would be George cLooney. A bunch of conservatives were gushing over his 2011 film "The Ides of March" (where the talented Mr. Clooney basically plays himself... a demagoguing liberal loudmouth with oodles of fans) He took the millions he made in 2011 and used the money and clout to headline an Obama fundraiser in 2012 and get his pal re-elected. Good going, conservatives.

Well, I married a woman of my same “tribe”... it’s not antique.

If that’s the criteria you have to boycott virtually all entertainment since somewhere in the process there are Obama supporters.

I admire Toby Keith for his support of the military. I do have Toby Keith music in my home and appreciate what he does for our troops.

Not interested in any of the people listed. Not interested in boycotts or blacklists either. Just don’t think they’re that effective.

On the contrary, blacklists (when held firm) are incredible effective.

The so-called blacklist of Hollywood Communists (REAL card carrying Communists) was not fully supported by the studios. Pseudonyms were used so that the ticket buying public who WAS looking for the involvement of certain names would not know of the participation. I doubt that at key places in production and check writing, someone didn't know.

Meanwhile conservatives ARE blacklisted by Hollyweird. If you back Obama, you get magazine coverage (by the same corporate media that owns the tv/film studios and record labels).

Without the support, it's as if you don't exist.

The music I listen to IS largely off the radar of the mainstream (because I don't listen to music on radio, pop40, moldy gold 70s/80s, or left of the dial taxpayer subsidized Pacifica or NPR). A lot of things weren't recognized in their time by the masses because the suits had some other act to sell.

I'm not hurting for entertainment, but the culture at large doesn't mean a flip to me because it is openly hostile to me, my politics, God and country.

They can’t be conservatives. Most likely they are RINOs

There were people saying that we shouldn’t see the anti-Islamist Argo because Clooney produced it.

Dixie Chix are already gone.

The rest are fringe or one hit wonders.

In general they are all just bad performers.
