Confidential report lists U.S. weapons system designs compromised by Chinese cyberspies
Washington Post ^ | May 27, 2013 | By Ellen Nakashima

Designs for many of the nation’s most sensitive advanced weapons systems have been compromised by Chinese hackers, according to a report prepared for the Pentagon and to officials from government and the defense industry.

Among more than two dozen major weapons systems whose designs were breached were programs critical to U.S. missile defenses and combat aircraft and ships, according to a previously undisclosed section of a confidential report prepared for Pentagon leaders by the Defense Science Board.

Experts warn that the electronic intrusions gave China access to advanced technology that could accelerate the development of its weapons systems and weaken the U.S. military advantage in a future conflict.

The Defense Science Board, a senior advisory group made up of government and civilian experts, did not accuse the Chinese of stealing the designs. But senior military and industry officials with knowledge of the breaches said the vast majority were part of a widening Chinese campaign of espionage against U.S. defense contractors and government agencies.

The significance and extent of the targets help explain why the Obama administration has escalated its warnings to the Chinese government to stop what Washington sees as rampant cybertheft. . .

There is some downside to electing a "rock star" as president.

It’s time this National nightmare ends with a lifetime prison sentence for Barry.

Idiots all for allowing access to this information on the Internet in the first place. Keep sensitive information off the Internet, period. Having sensitive information on computers that are connected to the Internet is absolutely stupid, IMO.

I’d like to see an assessment on how well the Chinese are doing compared to the KGB during its heyday. It would be somewhat amusing if we were deliberately feeding them crap, causing planes to fall out of the sky, nuclear meltdowns, train collisions and so on.

It is not fair to compare the success of the Chinese with the KGB.

At their peak, the KGB did not have access to AG Holder’s DOJ records.

It looks like the cyber warfare training given in all five US service academies has not paid for itself.

And the lesson from this course is?... Failure.

Clinton /Gore gave them more!

Cox Report at House Gov. Before Clinton china couldn't hit Taiwan with a missile. Now they can target a specific block in LA with nukes of our design.

All rats hate America.

What do you suppose the odds are that The Washington Post will have its phone lines, its reporters' phone lines, its reporters' relatives' phone lines traced and tapped as a result of this article?

The FOX News case goes back to 2009, the AP case goes back a year. Holder did everything he could to keep FOX and AP in the dark about these “investigations.” Holder apparently believed he could suppress the FOX News subpoena documents indefinitely or he wouldn't have perjured himself in front of Congress ten days ago answering questions about the AP case. And I think he thought until this month he could keep the AP documents sealed by repeatedly going back to the judge and citing national security.

They used these espionage cases as an excuse to go through phone and email records to identify confidential sources working in the government leaking to the media a variety of information—sometimes unfavorable to the administration. I think Obama was obsessed with finding out who, if anyone, in the White House was talking to FOX. He hates FOX so at the earliest opportunity the DOJ acted.

So, in time we might find out that the DOJ has already snooped through the phone records of the Post and every other news outfit in D.C. And whatever the DOJ does under the cover of the law there are private entities connected to the DNC, the leftist super-PAC’s and big labor with the resources to snoop, smear and intimidate outside the law.

Or totally brilliant. What they are hopefully doing is keeping the true designs off the internet and letting the Chinese hack are things full of backdoors, poison pills, massive malware, virus and Trojan farms.

You have to remember that what the Chinese are getting if they are getting anything worthwhile are prototype designs. Full production models are a different animal. Even the developers don't know what the final product will look like until years of testing take place. This whole report smacks of kabuki theater if you ask me.

That’s what makes the Fox scandal worse than the watergate burglaries imho, obama allowed his DOJ to pull “legal burglaries”. There is no way holder did this without approval from the wh.

“Idiots all for allowing access to this information on the Internet in the first place.”

Hussein likes to tell us they’re “idiots” rather than conspirators, and would like us to believe the headlines verbatim, but some of us remember the Great Clinton GIVING missile technology to the Chinese and then “justifying” it to us because we weren’t being “fair”.

Hussein will do anything to hurt America.

Why should we ever assume ANYTHING happens the way the headlines present it?

The punishment for treason is death and Barry is like a cat with 9 lives that has more than enough violations to get the job done. The greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people in U.S. history.

We should tell the Chinese the cost of your hacking is 1 Trillion dollars. We don’t owe you squat as of this moment.
