British Jewish entertainers, writers, politicians and businesspeople openly celebrate their Jewishness. The London East End Jew, with his sharp wit and mouth is as well loved and known a cultural icon as the Glaswegian or the Cockney.
The current British Prime Minister is part Jewish. As is the deputy PM. As is the leader of the opposition party(Labour). So you have Jewish-descended people in the three most important political positions in the UK.

The UK is the nation that rejected the naked antisemitism of the 1930’s Fascists, and continues to reject the antisemitism of the BNP and other fringe neo-nazi parties and groups. The nation that stood alone against Hitler, while America and others stood by. And the nation that liberated Belsen and saved Jewish lives.
To suggest that the British people are antisemitic OR that the jews of Britain are victims of mass cultural or physical antisemitism is a downright and disgusting lie.

I know what you say is true, and I know several elders who emigrated as children (thru Harwich, a port I have been to a dozen times because I worked on a ship and reprovisioned many many times in Harwich) to England and were settled out in the countryside... although the numbers are not “millions”.
That they did this is a historical fact I am grateful for and would never deny. But I have NEVER heard ONE comment favorable to the Jews from any Brit. The Zionism issue and Jews as people or as a religion are to me separate issues though they both have my unequivocal support.

If that statement is a lie, then each and every salient experience I had while living in the UK for a year and a half, plus about ten months working on ships with mostly British engineering crew and many English musicians (and, by the way, not the Scotch nor the Irish folks I met, for some reason) without a single exception, is a lie. I’ve never heard a single kind word for the Jews from a Brit. But I’m OK with it, I accept it.

I disagree. My experience with British migrants in NZ whether they are evangelical Christians of various stripes, social activists of the leftist stripe, or non-political work contacts, all have a rather unfavourable opinion of Jews in general and the State of Israel in particular. The only exception is a couple in their 70s who would have had memories of the 1940s and the Holocaust. The majority people come from all walks if life everywhere in the British Isles, and only a minority are from Fleet Street like circles, and have views from the Greens to the right-wing of the Tories.
I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard from these guys the Jews control the US foreign policies, how powerful the Jews are, how Americans in general bend over backwards towards their own Jews, how the Jews are rather still looking their eyes towards Israel, how poor those Palestinians suffered at the hands if the Israeli Jews. Even many Kiwis find their rhetoric excessive.
A couple of muzzies (one a convert) of Nigerian descent murder a British serviceman and brag about it — it wasn’t going to be long before the “Conservative” party (or Labour, they’re just not in charge right now) started to dump on Israel. Thanks Olog-hai.
