ACTUAL TITLE: 911 Dispatcher Tells Woman About To Be Sexually Assaulted There Are No Cops To Help Her Due To Budget Cuts
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. (CBS Seattle) An Oregon woman was told by a 911 dispatcher that authorities wouldnt be able be able to help her as her ex-boyfriend broke into her place because of budget cuts.
Oregon Public Radio reports that an unidentified woman called 911 during a weekend in August 2012 while Michael Bellah was breaking into her place. Her call was forwarded to Oregon State Police because of lay-offs at the Josephine County Sheriffs Office only allows the department to be open Monday through Friday.
Uh, I dont have anybody to send out there, the 911 dispatcher told the woman. You know, obviously, if he comes inside the residence and assaults you, can you ask him to go away? Do you know if hes intoxicated or anything?
The woman told the dispatcher that Bellah previously attacked her and left her hospitalized a few weeks prior to the latest incident. The dispatcher stayed on the phone with the woman for more than 10 minutes before the sexual assault took place.
Once again its unfortunate you guys dont have any law enforcement out there, the dispatcher said, according to Oregon Public Radio.
The woman responded: Yeah, it doesnt matter, if he gets in the house Im done.
Police say Bellah choked the woman and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested by Oregon State Police following the incident.
There isnt a day that goes by that we dont have another victim, Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilberson told Oregon Public Radio. If you dont pay the bill, you dont get the service.
The sheriffs department had to cut 23 deputies and the entire major crimes unit after it lost a multi-million dollar federal subsidy, according to Oregon Public Radio. There are now only six deputies left.
The sheriffs department even put out a press release warning domestic violence victims to consider relocating to an area with adequate law enforcement services.
Bellah pleaded guilty to kidnapping, sex abuse and assault.

How about arming yourself? Its a safe bet this woman knew he would do this, and all she did was call 911?
There you go - that will get it done.
Wish I'd thought of that.
12 gauge shotgun with 00 buck does a lot of protecting
She should consider having Smith and Wesson come and stay with her.
Her ex-Boyfriend broke into her place because of budget cuts?
In Oregon when seconds count there are no cops at all.
I’m sorrry, but you no longer have a right to your 2nd amendment right. And due to illegals and Islamic terrorists bankrupting the state budget from health care and welfare, you no longer have a police force to protect you. Have a nice day.
when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
Heck buy a Doberman or a Pit Bull.....even Bear repellant if she’s scared of guns.
She should have gotten a restraining order. Yeah.
And when the creep started breaking in - why, she coulda waived it right in his face!
Wouldn’t he just feel silly after that, huh?
This pitiful excuse for a police department probably can only afford a box of yellow chalk to outline the murdered bodies of its constituents.
Most intelligent folks would arm themselves against such threats as repeated sexual attacks by known predators, but this is Oregon we are talking about.
There is a very simple solution.
Require that every able bodied adult purchase a firearm and become proficient in its use for home defense. Anyone who refuses to purchase a firearm can pay a “self defense tax” with the funds raised being used to hire additional police.
Oh, my.
The cops came - on the day shift. Women need to schedule these attacks for the daytime so that cops will be available . . . that or arm themselves. My guess is that three or four warning shots (12 gauge, buckshot preferred) into his chest would prevent this repeat offender from ever attacking a woman again.
I’m wondering if she told the 911 dispatcher that someone just shot an LEO right outside her door, if there wouldn’t be 2 dozens cops on the scene in less than 3 minutes.
Clearly, it was Bush's fault.
