WASHINGTON A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agencys improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.
Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, wont answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening or why she didnt reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.
Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.
DOCUMENT: The Inspector Generals report on the IRS
She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course, said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif. The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.
How about telling them to tell the truth?
Maybe they can cross thier fingers and say any old thing
.
Who is paying the bill of this expensive top notch /democrat hack lawyer?
Hmmmmm.....thanks for the info. Trying to catch up now. Lots going on today!!
“What did Valerie Jarrett know and when did she know it?”
Issa should subpoena that bat-faced, Iranian biotch just to make her dodge/refuse it for the record! Citizens should be screaming for her head. She is behind all of this garbage!
Compel testimony with limited, defined immunity contingent upon complete and truthful testimony. Otherwise, lock her up for contempt and for being contemptible.
Yep! Ask her a dozen extremely simple and pertinent questions, and have her declare her 5th Amendment Rights to avoid prison.
“Ms. Lerner, did you coordinate and execute a political attack by the IRS on 0bama Administration opponents at the direction of the 0bama Administration and the Treasury Union?”
Bingo!!
Yet she is the one who publicly disclosed the targeting and issued an apology. This morning in the senate hearing, Steven Miller the “former” acting chief of the IRS, took responsibility for her speech, saying it was his idea to disclose the targeting in this manner, thus attempting to make her only a mouthpiece to what he indicated was a bad idea. Miller was “forced” to resign, although his tenure was over with this job in June anyway. She takes the fifth..they are now in the process of stopping the buck with them.
She won’t risk her life.
Best post I’ve seen today.
Thank you sir.
"That said. This department was her responsibility. Whether she testifies or not, the evidence pointing in her direction is substantial and we should be able to get a conviction without her testimony."
We should not offer her immunity. However, if she was following orders from the WH, we can certainly take that into consideration.
She will get a promotion and a bonus. And the GOP will do NOTHING!
EVERY SINGLE PERSON HAS TO BE PUT UNDER OATH for these scandals.
EVERY ONE.
Issa said something today about most being put under oath.
Not acceptable
ALL PUT UNDER OATH AND NOTHING LESS
I wouldn’t rule out immunity so quickly. Remember, if the only option is an investigation (as opposed to voluntary testimony), then the Obmachine has all sorts of ways to throw sand into that machinery, beginning with Holder putting his DOJ into it to shut down anything else.
Waterboard her commie dyke rear end until she spills the beans about THE FOREIGNER giving the orders.
The entire hierarchy of the IRS should be fired on principle that they either knew or ought to have known about this assault on liberty. I am also angered that some in the IRS get paid BONUSES. That practice should be immediately ended. Certainly the IRS should be removed from having any role in Obamacare.
He sounds like a loyal demonic-rat.
Maybe a pro-bono thing?
Any Gov employee who takes the fifth must resign or be fired.
“Lock the Bitch in a room w/ me, I will BEAT the TRUTH out of her!”
You can’t have all the fun. Is there a sign-up sheet?
