(via Weasel Zippers) -- The Department of Defense confirms to NBC 5 Investigates that accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan has now been paid more than $278,000 since the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting that left 13 dead 32 injured. The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasans salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty.
If Hasan had been a civilian defense department employee, NBC 5 Investigates has learned, the Army could have suspended his pay after just seven days.
Personnel rules for most civilian government workers allow for indefinite suspensions in cases when the agency has reasonable cause to believe that the employee has committed a crime for which a sentence of imprisonment may be imposed.
Meanwhile, more than three years later soldiers wounded in the mass shooting are fighting to receive the same pay and medical benefits given to those wounded in combat. Read more via NBC Dallas...

> Military Justice? Has this ever happened before?
Military judge says the bloody mohammedan murderer must shave his beard before entering the courtroom.
Bloody mohammedan murderer says, “No.”
They won’t violate his religious right to keep his beard, and the judge won’t try him unless he’s clean-shaven.
Impasse.
I’m sure that the mohammedan kenyan dictator in the White House is perfectly okay with that.
How ‘bout we hang him first and shave the corpse for the trial?
Just sayin’.
Looks like sequestration didn’t have any effect on this piece of garbage. Does he still have commissary privledges? And, how dare someone call him a jihadist. That’s like judging him or something without having all the evidence. Less of course the eye witnesses.
If one of this scumbag’s victims was my kid, we wouldn’t be worrying about a trial today.
Didn’t they find he was sending a significant portion of his pay directly to terrorists?
This way WE can continue to fund our enemies — perfectly acceptable logic in the Fraud-in-Chief’s world.
Gulity.
kill him put money back in Treasury.
If I am not mistaken, if he is ordered to shave his beard and he refuses that order, he can be kicked out of the military on that ground alone.
I suspect they have a thousand different related charges they could court marshal him on immediately and instead they wait for the trial on the murder charges and keep his salary going?
Insanity!
This is ridiculous. There are many, many means in which pay could be docked. Just get technical and creative and use them. And make sure in the charges that if found guilty, all pay issued under arrest will be forfeited.
Good grief.
I guarantee if that had been a sergeant who gave a bible to an Afghani, that they’d already have him tried, convicted, sentenced, served, and out of the Army.
NO doubt in my mind.
Hell, knock him down to E-1 Private. If we’re going to pay him it should not be at O-5 Major pay.
