The Department of Defense confirms to NBC 5 Investigates that accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan has now been paid more than $278,000 since the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting that left 13 dead 32 injured. The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasans salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty.

Exactly, he is innocent until proven guilty. The real issue is why it has taken so long to put him on trial.
However, the money should be held in escrow, and forfeited upon conviction.
Why on earth does it take so long to conduct a trial? Especially such a high profile trial such as this one? “We need more time to review all of the paperwork...” In the meantime, he keeps getting a paycheck and his medical bills are paid by OUR military?
“I hope he at least paid income tax on it! /sarc”
Naw, under this present_dent, jihad is a 501 (c) 3 organization and not subject to IRS scrutiny.
The IRS is too busy looking for Patriotic, Tax Paying, American, White, Male, Veteran, Christians to harass.
He killed all of those people in 2009. He should have been executed for his crimes before the end of 2010. This is Obama's bullstalin that we've paid this Islamonazi sh!theel this much taxpayer money.
Obama doesn’t want to oversee this execution on his watch.
One may be punished for a crime and have to pay a civil penalty for the same offense. Hudson v. United States, 522 US 93 (1997) http://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/522/93/case.html. Could there not be some kind of civil proceeding to suspend his pay?
I wonder what is taking so long to get the trial moving. Lack of witnesses?
bring a civil suit against him first to collect the money.
And you can convict for the civil offense before the criminal trial, happens to drunk drivers who do not blow all the time.
This is a cut and dried case of mass murder by a muslim terrorist with an abundance of witnesses.
So why is Hasan still untried, still on the taxpayers payroll and still not accused of terrorism after 3 1/2 years? Is Hasan being kept on ice in case he is needed for President Obie's Civilian National Security Force?
Obie knows he can count on people like Major Hasan to kill intractible infidels anytime, anywhere.
The moozlum traitor probably donated the money to nobama’s continuing campaign to ruin America. Disgusting.
Don’t think he’s had much of a chance to spend it. Other than on lawyers.
Not ex post facto.
I think they're doing the same thing with Tsarnaev, the Boston Islamist bomber. As of the end of last week, he hadn't even been indicted yet and they only have 30 days to indict him or his "right to a speedy trial" has been violated. Prosecutors were going to apply for an extension, but I don't know what happened with that.
The whole Obama Justice Department strategy is to protect Muslim terrorists and keep them out of the public eye and mind by never bringing them to trial or doing so long after the attack.
H0lder and Zer0 seem to be able to change things and fix history as they go.
I'm assuming a certain respect for the rule of law on our part.
all, all expenses for his trial, incarceration, lawyers, etc. should be deducted.
Also, burial and medical expenses of the victims need to be deducted.
that should not be too hard to arrange. I recall after WWII, some colonel had to pay for a Sherman tank because an inventory showed it was missing - never found.
Thanks or bringing this up, Perdogg.
This is one of the many scandals of the Obozo admin and needs to be brought up constantly...
There has been no justice in this case...
Congress needs to jump up and down over this...where are they?
Our county (Bell in Texas) has been housing the killer in a medically outfitted cell with 24/7 attendants and medical services as needed... I have no idea how many millions that has cost you and me...
Why this fellow hasn’t already been executed is a mystery to me. He should have faced a firing squad before the 2008 recession hit and the SOB hasn’t even gone to trial yet.
