The late columnist William Safire once said that a good clue that someone in Washington was engaged in an artful dodge, i.e., a cover-up, was that they used the phrase mistakes were made. Safire defined it as a passive-evasive way of acknowledging error while distancing the speaker from responsibility for it.
The phrase became infamous when both Richard Nixon and Ron Ziegler, his press secretary, deployed it to explain away Watergate without explaining who did what and when or whether any ill motive was involved.
AdvertisementAstonishingly, the Internal Revenue Service resurrected the Nixonian expression within hours of its clumsy revelation that it had targeted tea-party groups and other organizations with patriot or 9/12 in their names.

In Safire’s day the phrase meant “we got caught” (and didn’t want to). These folks don’t give a damn. They don’t have to. They know it and they want us to know it.
Once again the attempt to compare this to Watergate.
Watergate what nothing like this.
No deaths...
No actual IRS persecutions of political enemies...
No stolen medical records...
No taking of press phone records...

Nice...
You nailed it.
"THE CHICAGO WAY" OOZES UP FROM THE POLITICAL MUCK AND MIRE The kingpins of criminal Chicago politics occupying our WH have the con game down pat----these practiced con artists know every trick in the book.
HERE'S SOMETHING DAVID AXELROD DREAMED UP IN COLLUSION WITH RAHM EMANUEL---AND I QUOTE Obomba called on Washington to not get sidetracked by "fleeting" issues. "I know it can seem frustrating sometimes when it seems like Washington's priorities aren't the same as your priorities. Others may get distracted by chasing every fleeting issue that passes by."
=====================================================
OBOMBA ENDED WITH "the middle class will always be my number one focus. Period."
Mmmmmmmm.....the predicatable con artist routine. Sounds like something Madoff would say to reel in the suckers.
=======================================
The term "suppression of the vote" is getting more and more relevant----it is the term Obamba continually used against conservatives in the campaign.
The O Team cunningly scared conservatives into thinking intelligent, rational, time- honored voter ascertainment techniques was "hatemongering" and "suppression of the vote."
At the same time, the Obomanations calculatedly suppressed conservative votes via the IRS (and God knows where else)---- they revved up their vote by using the "suppression" angle.
SUMMATION You can't use logic when dealing with the Obamatons----they are practiced con artists---and know every trick in the book.
GOD Bless William Safire!He referred to Shrillary as a”Congenital Liar”!!Boy,was he SPOT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The link is broken....FYI
“poor customer service” as an excuse for targeting political opponents while greasing the skids for liberal orgs.
Good one...
As bad as Nixon was though, he was nothing anywhere near as bad as either Clinton or Obama.
Nixon basically got caught up on protecting his men. This guy..., he’s been all in since day one, and on a myriad of extremely bad moves that Nixon never came near doing.
Here’s a link, looks like NR busted the original one
