Harvard students, outraged over a doctoral dissertation arguing that Hispanic immigrants lack “raw cognitive ability or intelligence,” this week urged the university to investigate how the thesis came to be approved and to ban future research on racial superiority.

The students presented 1,200 signatures to president Drew Faust and the dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government, David Ellwood.

“Academic freedom and a reasoned debate are essential to our academic community,” the petition said. “However, the Harvard Kennedy School cannot ethically stand behind academic work advocating a national policy of exclusion and advancing an agenda of discrimination.” …

.My former girlfriend,a Radcliffe grad, had a friend who worked in Harvard's admissions office who told her that were it not for affirmative action the freshman classes at Harvard would be made up almost entirely of Jews and Asians.

One of my favorite Ronald Reagan stories reportedly goes like this: When he was Governor of California, he pushed for straight merit criteria in college admissions. One of his aides said, "But Governor, if we did that, U. Cal. Berkely would be 90% Asian." To which he replied, "So?"

“It states that “Harvard students” were outraged.

That should have been an alarm bell. (and I am not prejudice about Harvard graduates, my son-in-law is a Harvard Law Graduate & is 1/2 Hispanic, the quickest study I have ever met and a stanch Republican.)

The faculty senate at Harvard’s Law School called an emergency meeting to assure such errors are not repeated.

“The Future must not belong to those Harvard Law School grads who deny Libtardism.” said the President of the Harvard Law School faculty senate.

Not a problem, he does not work for the government. And the owner of the company he works for is Jewish.

Multiple studies have shown a decisive correlation between high IQ and the salary of government employees.

Self fulfilling test. Government hires by IQ and therefore the highest IO has the highest salary.

“The students presented 1,200 signatures to president Drew Faust...”

1200 out of 20,000 students.

“Richwine resigned from the Heritage Foundation”

Another conservative sticks his head up and the left cuts it off. They win again. Obama admits to felony use of illegal drugs, but he is still President.

"You don’t know that intelligence tests in hiring were banned by the government?"

No, I did not.

"This is why employers demand BAs for receptionists."

No, that may be a factor, but the real reason is they have a large pool of BAs who really need jobs and they are already educated (conditioned) to abide by bureaucrats.

"Post less learn more."

Plead guilty to that too often.

So how did this jump to a racial issue? This speaks more to a culture and education issue but that would require thinking skills of the respondents............

Somehow, given this forum, I am not surprised at either of the above.

However, while I did have a sales territory for a year of so, I am no expert on sales. The value of the sales department is clear to all but a socialist.

What I was addressing was the criticality of IQ in fields where a built in reality check exists. When a product is developed, at all stages there is liability, as Ford discovered when a less than stellar IQ made a bad call on gas tank placement.

Sales is a field where pleasing personality/appearance often is significant - the reason why cute blonds are used to sell everything from cars to restaurant food. Brighter blonds become drug company sales cuties, less intellectually equipped blonds cluster at Hooters.

Engineers are legendary for being less than cute.

Lastly, who ever hired a black law school grad over a Jewish lawyer from Brandeis or Harvard?

Und so weiter, ad nauseam.

Sorry for the above line, but I couldn't resist.

I forgot: engineers often are balding from tearing out their hair after meetings with administration who over-ruled a calculation/prediction.

Such events tend to cause a propensity for receding hairlines, permanent frowns, wear on molar enamel, etc.

Islam, taken literally, is irreconcilable with civilization.

That is how they tried to spin it after the fact. Homosexual activist groups protested the APA conventions in 1970, 1971, 1972. In 1973 these same activists stole the mailing list for the APA directorate and sent them direct mailings to “explain their point of view”. It also served as a implicit threat of “we know where you live”. At the 1973 Convention (which was heavily protested by homosexuals) they had a vote and Homosexuality no longer was a mental illness. The truth of the matter was that there was absolutely no new science that led them to make this change.

Re: “Self-fulfilling Test”

They take IQ tests as children, and typically become government employees right out of college.

If they were being hired and promoted on the basis of IQ, I kind of think we would have heard about it, don’t you?

I kind of think it would be the subject of lawsuits and legislation, don’t you?

IQ predicts intellectual potential, just like being the fastest runner in your school predicts athletic potential.

What God created the IQ test?

I last took one of those things back in my Freshman year of college (1966). They told me that I was an overachiever. Whatever that means, was nonsense to me then and is still today.

Either you can do something or you cannot. The more you try to do constructive thing the better you get at it. Pretty simple.

No, not everyone is as gifted as others. But it often makes no difference. What is important is what you accomplish.

That is proven by going back through old yearbooks to see who was voted “most likely to succeed” and finding out they usually don’t.
