An overwhelming 97 percent of climatologists endorse the idea of human-caused global warming.
As if the backing of NASA, 18 independent American scientific societies, and an intergovernmental panel established under the United Nations weren't enough to quell the protests popping up in comment sections across the Internet, a new study published in the journal Environmental Research Letters confirms once again that climatologists almost unanimously believe that climate change is directly related to human-made carbon emissions.
Researchers pored over nearly 12,000 peer-reviewed scientific papers from 1991 to 2011. These papers, according to Michael Todd at Pacific Standard, represented the work of 29,083 authors and 1,980 journals. The conclusion could hardly be stronger: 97 percent of scientists agree that anthropogenic, or human-caused, global warming exists.
...
"That suggests both a consensus, and an overwhelming one," adds Todd.
"The public perception of a scientific consensus on [anthropogenic global warming] is a necessary element in public support for climate policy," conclude the study's authors. And yet, according to Pew Internet Research (PDF), 57 percent of Americans are unaware that there is an overwhelming scientific consensus.

An overwhelming 97 percent of climatologists endorse the idea of human-caused global warmingYes, and they say scientists in the title. Quite comical, if it werent so tragicomical that is.
Back when I was a kid, you know, less than 20 years ago, we called this “climate change” stuff ‘seasons’.
Of course Climate Change is real. That is the definition of climate (a dynamic system....)
What is in dispute are the cause and effects as well as the massive corruption in how science is being used.
Prove it!
Ridiculously transparent of Obama to mandate the release of this information (don’t mention it to him, he’ll just deny it and reward the publisher). And Al Gore will ask for some more ice cream cones in his private jets.
Sorry Mr. Scientist, but we don’t believe you anymore. Credibility counts.
Maybe there was the 97% because there was no funding for opposite results and the 3% are accidental or self funded.
Well of course!
One is not ALLOWED to be called a “climatologist” UNLESS one is for AGW.
Where does one study and get credentialed in this particular “science’ anyway?
Not all of the 97% are morons. Some of them have to be the evil geniuses / masterminds of the plot.
Its so real that they have to change its name every couple years and constantly revise their doom and gloom scenarios.
Of course, climate change is real. Climate changes. That’s a natural process. The planet has been really cold and it has been really hot. It survives and life adapts.
But humans do not change it!
Yeah, that’s what science does - they vote on things.
Translation: “we need the support of the people, but they ain't buying into our krap because they're stupid.”
Of course climate changes, but man has nothing to do with it.
I just heard a radio show about that today. The way they got that 97% figure is they sent out 10,000 surveys to scientists and climatologists and they got back 77. 75 of the 77 believed that man is the cause. 2 disagreed. Yes climate change is real. It is the cause that is still unknown.
all I know is alaska is still getting snowed on and the local lakes in my old stomping ground just had their ice finally breakup.
I used to date a cosmologist or was she a cosmetologist? my memory fails me,, must be global varming..jaa..
And...anyone who's ever been to China recently (as I have) knows that the clearest day you'll possibly see there is far worse than the worst day you'll see in LA or London. And unlike London what you're seeing there is caused by 10,000 coal powered power plants and an equal number of factories that don't even make an *effort* to limit pollution.
Amen, Brudda’.. and he ain’t gonna have a smiley face for some.
