Obama Calls It 'a Cliche' to Say We're 'the Greatest Country on Earth' May 14, 2013 By Craig Bannister
It's "a cliché" to say that America "is the greatest country on Earth," Pres. Obama told a DNC event in New York City on Monday.
"And more than anything, what I will be striving for over the next three and a half years is to see if that spirit that I saw in Boston and West, Texas, if we can institutionalize that, if we can create a framework where everybody is working together and moving this country forward.
"Now, the good news is that if we do that, we've got the best cards of any country on Earth -- and that's the truth. Look, there's no American politician, much less American President, who's not going to say that we're not the greatest country on Earth. So that's a cliché. On the other hand, objectively, when you look at where we are right now, we are poised for a 21st century that is as much the American century as the 20th century was."
Earlier in his remarks, Obama said that Americans all have "the same sense" that their country is the greatest:

bump
blasphemy, I will be so glad to have a President that actually knows what he is talking about
It is cliche.
This guy pisses me off daily; I just hope this is all of today’s quota!
The democrats and his heinous have been successful in turning my contempt for people like them into pure hatred.
It IS a cliche THANKS TO HIM!
But it’s not cliche to say that Obama is the biggest A**hole on earth!
commie ba$+@rd
Reinforcing his hatred of America and the Constitution.
This is the basis of his effort to destroy both.
Obama is lower than whale Sh#t! He hates this country more than he hates being half white.
IIRC, he made similar comments early in his first term, about how Americans think our country is the best, in the same fashion as Brits think theirs is the best, et al.
Not sure of the context of that, but that seems to be his thought process.
Clearly, he does not believe in American exceptionalism, nor does he exhibit any measure of “love of country”.
The greatest country on earth, but with the worst possible phony screwing everything up to the point where it will take decades to get his errors straightened out.
Where’s our leader out of this morass?
“Obama Calls It ‘a Cliche’ to Say We’re ‘the Greatest Country on Earth’”
Then why didn’t he STAY in Kenya?
Barry Soetoro is the gayest president we’ve ever had in this country.
Hey, Barry...
STFU and go away.
Can someone, perhaps a disillusioned AP Reporter, then ask our Imperial President what country he believes is the greatest on Earth?
Shouldn’t it be that if Barry can state that we are not the greatest country on Earth that he must have evaluated one or more countries as better than ours?
This really isn’t that complicated, even for a community organizer. We know what countries exist in our world today. Our metrosexual prezzy can apply whatever criteria he wishes, share it, and then tell us what he really thinks.
Otherwise, I’d kindly suggest a hot steamin’ cup of STFU about OUR COUNTRY. The United States of America is in FACT the greatest country on Earth - in spite of a socialist threat posed by Obama and Co.
A man who yesterday said “there’s no there there” complains about cliches.
"And more than anything, what I will be striving for over the next three and a half years . . .
. . . is to get rid of that notion altogether.
This from the man born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Never went hungry or wanted for anything. His family owned a bank in Hawaii. Attended exclusive schools and attained advanced education unavailable to most Americans. Rose from obscurity to become President of the United States. Perhaps he believes he could have done better in Kenya. Ungrateful little rat bastard.
