ALBANY - State police have charged a 31-year-old Dutchess County driver with a misdemeanor after he was pulled over and found with two more bullets in his handgun magazine than allowed under New York's new gun control law.
Gregory Dean Jr. of Hopewell Junction was stopped for an inadequate light on his license plate about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in New Lebanon, troopers said...

Surrounding states can just put up signs at the state line.

The vast majority of NYS Troopers would have felt right at home in the gestapo.
By and large they are a bunch of power hungry bullies with the power of the law (even if it is unconstitutional) behind them.
I trust this man is smart enough to demand a jury trial. Jury nullification is a NY citizen’s only solution until our mafia connected governor starts swimming with the fishes.

When do you get pulled over for the light above your license plate being out?
I suggest police saw something that identified him as a gun owner, they ran his plates and when it showed he had a CVW, they pulled him over to “check” his firearm.
profiling!

We here in New Jersey could not erect such a sign on our border. We are just as burdened as New York is. We even have an over weight rino to contend with. He is not quite as bad as Cuomo but that ain’t saying much.

They will also pull you over in New Jersey for a faulty plate light.

“””When do you get pulled over for the light above your license plate being out?””
It is a common fundraising technique here in Minneapolis.
Just another ridiculous excuse to pull you over to write even more tickets. I don’t call them cops, I call them revenue collectors.
To: neverdem
They ran his plate, saw he had a CCW, pulled him over to see if they could nail him.

I also believe that but I think you have the sequence slightly out of order. They probably used the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) Scanning System. What probably happened is the police pulled in behind him, scanned him and voila’ his license info came up with a CCW attached then they stopped him and went fishing.

If you are pulled over, they generally don’t have the right to search the vehicle. Do gun owners have to disclose that they have a weapon in the car after a traffic stop, and does the existence of a weapon by someone who has a permit grounds to seize and search the weapon for excess bullets? If so, it would seem to eliminate the 4th amendment for gun owners.
