Carnival barker Jay Carney looked almost ashen Friday as he took the podium to face a suddenly invigorated press corps. Of course, the public briefing came after a private session with “reporters who matter,” a sure sign the White House is in full hunker-down mode — and, more precisely, terrified.
Speaking for the White House, the flack said the CIA was fully to blame for the talking points. Fully. “That is what was generated by the intelligence community, by the CIA,” he said.
For the record, this is what the CIA “generated”:
“Since April, there have been at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi by unidentified assailants.” That line was stricken: Everything was fine there — fine fine fine.
And: “We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to Al Qaeda participated in the attack.” That line, too, was deleted by … someone. Instead, this was inserted: “There are indications that extremists participated in the violent demonstrations.”
.........this scandal is just beginning. And the White House has picked a very bad scapegoat: the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA follows RFK’s edict: “Don’t get mad, get even.” And when the CIA gets even, it isn’t pretty.
With the White House putting all blame on the agency, expect push back this week — nuclear push back. Gen. David H. Petraeus, the former director forced to resign after a sex scandal, is a dangerous man to the Obama administration. Mad and intent on getting even, he’s already talking, telling one reporter the talking points were “useless” and that he preferred not to use them at all. The floodgates will open this week, and by the end of business Friday, the scandal will be full blown...

You know what really angers me, smoothsailing-
According to this article, Issa is saying that Obama and Hillary are not targets, which to me seems preposterous.
I do not want to jump the gun on this and get angry about it too early, but I have really had my fill of wimp republicans.
It seemed obvious that Petreaus was being blackmailed to go along with the White House version of the attack. He did what anyone who is being blackmailed should do, if they can, simply announce the dirty laundry and resign.
It’s much better to take the consequences of a personal indiscretion than lie under oath about Benghazi and go down with an impeached president.
Curl sees way more in this than I do. I didn’t think Carney seemed ashen, scared, worried or much different at all. Did he seem worried? Did I just miss it?
I doubt Petraeus will offer up anything useful. I don’t have faith in these people any longer.
Full blown by Friday?...I’m doubting it but hope they prove me wrong.
Weird. I start calling Paid “Midway Carney” barker by his true idiom, to illustrate the primary motivation behind his cheap suit act and New everyone is following.

my perhaps overly optimistic view of what Issa is saying here is that the investigation into Benghazi isn’t a political witch hunt meant to have consequences for political purposes. Instead Issa is saying the investigation is about actually finding out the truth about what happened the night four Americans were killed in Benghazi and why the American people were lied to about its root cause.
Issa has got to say that now. Ultimately, Obama gave the order to stand down. The responsibility is his. Issa knows that. He is going to inflict the death of a thousand cuts. This is just beginning. Let the chips fall.
“20 hours or so to get there.” I guess since it was “the middle of the night” the military would have to wait until the next business day to respond. God save us.
I understand why Issa would say that. He’s building a case. Why give away the ending?
He sure does, but I bet he knows a heck of a lot that can make Clinton and Obama squirm!
