Jodi Arias spent 18 days on the stand sharing intimate, emotional and oftentimes X-rated details of her life before a rapt television and online audience. She had hoped it all might convince a jury that she killed her one-time boyfriend in self-defense.
But the eight men and four women on the panel didn't buy it, convicting Arias of first-degree murder after only about 15 hours of deliberations. Jurors will return to court Thursday to begin the next phase of the trial that could set the stage for Arias receiving a death sentence.
It's a punishment that Arias herself says she wants, telling a TV station minutes after her conviction that she would "prefer to die sooner than later."

Even if she’s waives every appeal she can she has years of death row to look forward to.

Death wish = feeling of guilt, self-condemnation, remorse?
She is a LIAR, therefore, she says she wants death, hoping they’ll give her life (to thwart what she wants), then she gets what she wants. If the jury had been as stupid as the Casey Anthony one, I was ready to pull the trigger on my own head, rather than ever put my life in the hands of a jury, (in case I was ever arrested for anything).

This is already a miscarriage of justice. Travis Alexander was killed on June 4, 2008. She has lived 5 FREAKIN' YEARS already since she butchered him. Now she gets additional years of the stupid "mandatory appeals" and delays the system mandates. Justice delayed is justice denied.
Crazy manipulative b!tch is trying to psych the jury into giving her life instead of death.
I say give her death.
Then let her live with it hanging over her head for the next 20 years while the system does its thing.
And she expects the jury to believe this? Probably just another lie.
How did she not become a lawyer? Geez, she missed her calling.
Not to say all lawyers are bad, but face it, lawyers have just about as much culpability in the advancement of the public image of their profession as moderate Muslims have with radical Islamic terrorism.
The reverse psychology tactic sure does reek of pre-planned legal0ese designed to keep her perverted celebrity status on the minds of people that when the DOE arrives, the media gets another boost in justifying their existance...
Amazing how such a case like this somehow garnered so much attention...
There are many other cases around the world where a semi-attractive young woman does the same thing to their “man”...
And you never hear about it...
Go back and try to remember what was going on that day when this story first broke, in the media...That would be interesting to try and figure out...

Well, they could provide her the means to take care of this herself???
That might be the easy way out, for her...But hey...In this age of trying to keep within a budget...And the sequester effecting everything liberals can screw up...
It only makes sense to provide such a budgetary cost savings for the state’s correctional needs...

What she did in using the "I was battered" defense falsely is (IMHO) the same as using a false rape report. When you use either of those fraudulently you should get death just for that.
Too bad she can't be executed twice.
The big problem for Casey Anthony case outcome was that the prosecutor over-charged the crime... most likely because of the media involvement, they felt pressure to go after tougher convictions, rather than choosing appropriate charges based on the evidence on hand, and what they could prove. The jury did nothing wrong. In fact, I give them kudos for sticking to the rules and their instructions, when so many hyper-emotional folk wanted them to just ignore the rules. I’d MUCH rather have juries that were dispassionate, than to deal with juries that are at the whims of emotions. Justice is far more likely to result.
The charge is less serious than manslaughter. It carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison for adults, but penalties can be less for juveniles.
[District Attorney] Gill said it became clear in looking at the facts that the teenager's actions didn't amount to murder or manslaughter.
"We did not believe we could demonstrate the premeditation or intent to justify those charges," Gill told The Associated Press. "Those other charges require another type of mental state. We did not believe that type of mental state was present."
The Casey Anthony prosecutors did not follow this kind of wisdom in the face of the media cameras.
You got my point. The only persons in a court proceeding who are not under oath are . . the lawyers.
If true justice is ever to be dispensed in this country, lawyers need to be as accountable to the truth as everyone else. It is the manipulation of the truth in which they find their pathway to riches and the way that ordinary citizens find their way to being monetarily indebted to them, just to clear their name against the lies and purposeful distortions.
The perfect example is most ACLU cases which hang totally on the perception it will cost many times more to fight them to have the truth known, than to accept some sort of “deal” just to save you from bankruptcy. High priced shakedown artists.
Just ask the whistle-blowers on Benghazi how they feel about the legal profession. From the testimony yesterday, Hicks said it best. Vickie and her husband Joe say they are doing their work pro-bono but in essence it is just and investment. At least they are using the side of good. Then again, if the truth really mattered anymore, the need to be making the offer would not have existed.
So let us get this straight. We have a dead little girl, followed by all of the things a guilty person does to obfuscate it and you want a penalty of five years?

Odd how Tim McVeigh was convicted June 13, 1997 and executed June 11, 2001, just short of four years later. That's how the timing SHOULD be.
