Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, a newly elected Republican with a penchant for making headlines, filed an amendment that would bar undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States from ever earning citizenship.
There are an estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally, and a bipartisan immigration reform measure would create a pathway to citizenship over the course of 13 years by requiring those people to pay penalties and back taxes, as well as learn English. Conservatives opposed to reform decry the path as amnesty, but Democrats say they will not support reform that does not cope with the immigrants already living in the U.S.
Cruz also filed amendments that he says would "strengthen border security measures; reform the high-skilled temporary worker program; modernize, streamline and expand legal immigration; and prohibit federal, state or local entitlement benefits for those here illegally."(continued)

NO DEALS!
Yep there’s a few, seemingly disgruntled ronpaulnutz types, on any Ted thread trying to delete him ever which way.
Cruz is a God-send, coming to us at the right time and place. I hope he has aspirations for POTUS, we desperately need someone in there that knows how to introduce the liberals AND Rinos to Tony Llama.
Good for him!!
Plenty of fight here....We are not California. We will not go easy. In fact, we will not go at all.
good, they broke the law and should nto be rewarded
I had a rand Paul bot telling me how Cruz was a RINO[sigh]
The problem is that "jurisdiction" not clearly defined. It obviously doesn't mean citizen or permanent resident of the US, otherwise there could be no naturalized citizens, so even if we exclude children of illegals, would it include children of guest workers or children of people on tourist or student visas?
Because the wording is ambiguous, it has been taken advantage of by illegals and their advocates.
exactly
legal immigrants have to go home ot their country and apply for their visa’s through the American embassy in their own country.
The same should be for illegals, they go home and then do the same as legal immigrants.
Not stay here and then be rewarded by not paying tax, scamming the system and breaking the law
Since Paul's views on immigration aren't all that different from Obama's, unfortunately, it's Paul who is the RINO on this issue.
You can’t deport the 11 million illegals because it would not fly politically. To be truthful, Romney was onto something with the self deportation comment. If those people can never qualify to vote, then they are of limited value to democRATS. Even if they would be allowed to stay and work, you have to bar them from general assistance programs. When needs arise in their personal lives they can either go home or rely on family and/or private charity. If they truly like being here so much, their own family and community should see to their welfare needs and not the American taxpayer. Before the Roosevelt/Johnson welfare state all Americans were expected to work out their needs through means not involving mass government dependency. We need to go back to that model.
Cruz’s new proposal is so important because this immigration wave is going to stay a wave and it needs to be stopped. We can not allow every person in the world to become an American voter and net taker from the American Treasury. If you are not a citizen you should not be voting or collecting even if it is not possible to enforce a deportation. Without the benefits and pandering from deomocRATS, many of the 11 million illegals will go home.
agree but have you ever tried telling that to his cult voters?
Not unless you have 60 votes in your pocket to break the filibuster it doesn't.
Ok
this is interesting
“The key phrase is “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” A child born to foreigner parents is subject to the jurisdiction of their parents’ country(s), not of ours. Otherwise every ambassador’s wife would be getting knocked up and delivering here.’
surely this has been brought up before
or maybe we just didn’t want to bring it up
Honestly I am not worried about an ambassador’s wife using an anchor baby to bring many more though chain migration and then all of them raping our benefits.
If they are an ambassador’s wife they can probably feed and care for their own
BUT back to your point
I wish someone would bring this up and see how it goes
My Senator Cruz is the very one and if it has merit he will bring it up
thanks for the idea
Trouble is, some people want a Great White Hope so badly that they go around ignoring or defending things in "their" candidate/politician that they would never tolerate in another. You see this a lot with excuses that people make for various "conservative" luminaries who now support amnesty. I've even heard some people claim that Rubio and Paul's supposed support for amnesty is actually a secret plot to scuttle it!
A person in the U.S., be they citizen or foreigner, are subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. If they rob a bank, kill an person, or commit any other crime then they can, and will, be arrested, tried, and jailed. The exception are people like the ambassador's wife you mentioned who enjoy diplomatic or any other form of immunity that prevents them from being held accountable to our laws.
even if it gets a vote, his idea will probably fail 1-99 or something
Several problems.
One, if you let them stay, they will gain access to benefits - food stamps welfare, etc. It’s a simple enough matter to forge identification and to acquire access to programs that are trying to expand. Given that they will be immune from deportation with the Cruz bill - they will have nothing to fear.
Two, they will have the ability to legally work and pay taxes. Historically - a group that is earning American dollars, and which the treasury is dependent on is eventually going to acquire citizenship. Once you’ve let them in and legalize them, this is an inevitability.
That’s what the Democrats are here. Once they are in - it’s a fait accompli, and Cruz’s bill does not change this.
No, because then they’ll know how to use firearms proficiently.
Throw them all out, one way or another. That will free up a lot of tax dollars, and a lot of jobs.
The illegals who will never become citizens, never be allowed to vote, and never collect general welfare benefits would still have to come out of the shadows and identify themselves. Upon identifying themselves they would be eligible for a green card and the legal ability to work and pay taxes. This is not new, there already are plenty of legal visa holders who are not citizens and who work and pay taxes. These legal visa holders are not eligible for general welfare benefits just as non citizen illegals would not be eligible for general welfare. If someone thinks to commit fraud, this is a crime and should result in deportation. If someone like this can not make it with their own resources or with the help of friends/ family and private charity, they should return to their country of citizenship. Obviously all of the elements of the immigration bil need to be strictly enforced and a repeat of the current situation must be avoided at all costs.
Stop the lies. 40 million and they vote.
For obama.
