well
look
at
that
more like nish-goot.
(From the German for “not good”)
Yiddish is an incredibly colorful language! :-)
*Grin*
nischgut =
nish-goot =
lousy
I know Yiddish
LOL
Funny thing is, many of our daily words are taken from Yiddish.
Boss, Scheister, Schmo, Schlemiel, Bupkis, Keester, etc.
BTW...I am reading “War and Peace” right now, and I am finding that a LOT of the jokes from Rocky and Bullwinkle were gleaned from this Tolstoy Classic.
eg: The young lovers are named “Boris and Natasha”
In one scene, a character says, “BOOOris, Darling” with an emphasis on the “O” in Boris as an aristocratic affectation.
I’m not kidding. It’s in there!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (Who would have thought one could “LOL” while reading Tolstoy!)
Actually I've noticed how English is a mixed bag of different words from different languages.
LOL. Well apparently the writers of Rocky and Bullwinkle had a sense of humor, and love the classics.
War and Peace? Isn't that like three volumes in one (huge book)?
I love this!
HUGH and SERIES!
I am about a quarter of the way through it. (that would be about one inch worth of pages..LOL!)
Cooling down to the 70's out west, boy we need rain!
I'm very interested about the results today of the Benghazi hearings; someone's head needs to roll for abandoning those now 4 dead Americans!
OK, politics switched-off; hitting the coffee pot...
Have a bodacious day!
Some more gems from Rocky & Bullwinkle:
Upsidaisium...An anti-gravity element
Mount Flatten...Where Upsidaisium is mined
No Bikini Atoll...Where Upsidaisium was tested
Admiral “Wrong Way” Peachfuzz..Keeps getting lost in the Pacific, and then became the discover of Upsidaisium
Boris BADinov (From the opera Boris Gudinov)
Boris & Natasha (From “War & Peace”)
Mr. Big..Boris and Natasha’s Boss
Fearless Leader...Mr. Big’s Boss
I LOVED that show when I was a kid!
Thanks, Megs! I caught my Peaches in a playful mood! :)
((HUGS))Good morning, LUV W. How’s it going?
Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))
I’m doing a little better...thanks! Hope you and Bo are enjoying a good week together! Saw that you went to the lake...that’s always a good thing, at least for him! :)
Good morning Pro ((HUGS))
I can’t believe I’m hearing you correctly. Did you say “we need rain”? Strange.
We got some much needed rain yesterday. Maybe it’ll swing around and go your way.
So much in the news to make Americans angrier than a nest of hornets. I’m irate over the immigration thingy. They’re trying to smooth Amnesty over with a bunch of smoke, when we KNOW how it works...or should I say, doesn’t work? Look how well it worked when Bush granted amnesty.
OK, politics switched-off, too.
I’ll go read about those pigs who (I’d like to get my hands on) kidnapped and held those poor girls for so long. That’ll keep my Viking blood boiling! LOL
Have a wonderlicious Wednesday.
Narrator: “Meanwhile, back in Frostbite Falls...”
And who could forget Bullwinkle’s alma mater, Wassamata U?
Good morning Egee! It’s a great Wednesday. Yesterday was a waste thanks to an automatic update from MS of the IE10 browser last Thursday. Finding how to fix it was exasperating.
Today rain is due and we need it badly, down almost 4” over the past month. Any amount will help.
How are you?
(((HUGS!!!)))
LOL
Good morning Jinxie ((HUGS))
Wassamatta U! LOLOL!
I forgot that one! :-)
LOL!
Execrable puns are the Best!
