The first downloadable gun has gone viral.
The plastic firearm that can be churned out on a 3-D printer and easily assembled was downloaded at least 50,000 times Monday, according to the self-described anarchist who made it available for free online.
Cody Wilson of Defense Distributed, a collective of gun advocates, said the most downloads were done in Spain followed by the United States.

Do some research on “maker spaces”. There are some community resources for such things.
wake me up when we can start printing our own ammo.
you could make a spear.
What is the URL for getting the Distributed Defense file referenced in the article?
The link isn’t working anymore:
Well this is somewhat embarrassing, isnt it?
It seems we cant find what youre looking for. Perhaps searching, or one of the links below, can help.
Thank you, this link works.
Come SHTF, a steak knife will get you a nice M-4, etc
It didn’t work for me either, but the admin of the website says there will be mirror sites in the near future. Patience, grasshopper...
You are correct. They hate any form of freedom. They are Commies.
The supply of the unfinished lower receivers has pretty well dried up from what I can find.
The question to be considered is the act of drilling the receiver blank illegal in the state you live in. It is my understanding that in most it is not.
The only way I would be interested in building an AR type rifle is in 308 caliber. I am not at all interested in a 223. In my opinion the 223 is too light a caliber for anything I might use it for.
A heavy bullet for 223 is about 70 grains, 308 is commonly loaded with 180 grain bullets. There is a huge difference in impact energy with the 308 180 grain load than the 223 with 70 grain.
I somewhat agree with you. My next build is going to be an AR-10. I have a .30-06 hunting rifle and a .303 Lee-Enfield that will suffice for the time being. But one of the nice things about the AR-15 platform is reloading wicked fragmenting rounds. It is difficult to get the velocity up on a 180 gr. 7.62 round to make it fragment. You can get knock down power and expansion with 7.62. With all the body armor around these days, you need to think "hips and head" when targeting. Hips are full of arteries that are just waiting for fragmenting rounds. It immobilizes the target with a quick bleed out. I'm not saying that similar or better results can't be achieved with different targeting using a .308. I would say, I would rather have knock down power if a drug crazed target was rapidly advancing on me.
That's no ordinary nail. That's a high-capacity assault nail. They ought to be banned.
I haven't had this much fun since the Glocks started to get big. "Yeppers, I got me one o' them undetectable plastic cop-killing guns right here in the bag!" They'd know I was putting them on but they'd always look anyway. It was empty. "See, I toldya they wuz undetectable!"
I knew a guy about 15 years ago who finished a couple of 80% AR receivers. He then engraved a pic of Ren on one and Stimpy on the other for the S/Ns.
They will have a hard time with that in a database. hee hee hee
I appreciate his humor. They need not see it anyway.
Free Men need not ask Permission.
30-06 is my favorite cartridge, but almost all 30 caliber cartridges can be loaded to be very effective.
I have a bullet mold that I bought for my 30-30 Winchester (170gr FP) that will work in a pinch in 308 and 30-06. After 2000 fps leading might be an issue depending on the barrel.
But the same can be said for a lot of pistol bullets. Most people do not know that 9MM, 380, 38, 357 all shoot the same diameter (lead) bullet. Some bullet molds will work in all 4 (not ideal for all).
When reloading supplies are low, as they are now, you can always improvise.
Bump
By the way, I had no clue who Ren & Stimpy were. Had to look it up.
It is also one of mine. My most accurate rifle is a 20 year old Browning .30-06 A-Bolt with a BOSS and Leupold scope. I can bench rest groups under 1 inch at 300 yards. (Don't ask me to do that standing, LOL) Every deer that I have shot with it has immediately dropped, literally they didn't even take a step.
One of these days I want to get hold of a Remington 700 long action .300 Win Mag and build a M24 clone ... Just in case I want to reach out and touch someone.
