White goods such as electric ovens would be affected by the proposals to fit all new appliances with sensors that could shut them down when the UK's generators struggle to meet demand for power.
The measures proposed by the UKs National Grid, along with its counterparts in 34 European countries, to install the controversial devices are backed by one of the European Union's most influential energy bodies.
They are pushing for the move because green energy sources such as wind farms are less predictable than traditional power stations, increasing the risk of blackouts
The proposals are outlined in documents drawn up by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), and has been agreed by the EU-wide body of energy regulators.
The proposals were sent to the European Commission on March 27, and it is set to deliver its verdict on the proposals within three months, the Mail on Sunday reported....

Spend Billions saving millions, but most will just plug their fridge in another socket...
I had a device at my home to shut off my AC compressor. It was only used once in the last seven years in SE Wisconsin. I’d get $5.00 a month credit on my bill. Utility just discontinued the program.
Not enough electricity to go around because of all the immigrants they’re letting in.
I just had the “energy saver” switch removed from my air conditioner unit. The switch gave my electric utility the ability to shut down my air conditioner’s condenser during peak load times in exchange for a paltry $2 per month credit on my bill. The switch was already on the air conditioner when I bought the house and was reinstalled when I replaced my air conditioner as my contractor said they could not remove it. This spring a new switch was installed without my written authorization or any advance notice. I filed a complaint with my state PUC and had the switch removed when my air conditioner condenser was disabled when I first tried it on an 86 degree day. My electric utility assured me the new switch would only be used during peak times, but when Obama already told us that we cannot be in control of our thermostats, I do not want anyone having the means to shut down my system without my authorization.
Easy to bypass, most are voluntary.
Cluster.
Or better yet, embrace capitalism and then you don’t have to share your food with bacteria.
YEa I’m a HVAC tech! lol!
Is tough when there is a system prob and the unit is shut down from power plant. I as most techs remove that item from the sys when serviced!
Free men can be so unreasonable. ;)

Mmmmmmm...power-failure ice cream...
Why, just THINK of how lucky we all are...who would have thought we could be "living" history instead of just learning about it through tales passed down from our older relatives.
Bedbugs, formerly eradicated diseases...and now...lack of refrigeration. You know, indoor plumbing is REALLY becoming a problem...entirely too much water is being consumed...someone needs to do something!
I know that but the greenies here in the USA are always contemplating making such devices mandatory. Hands off my beer...
“Hands off my beer...”
And I agree with you...keep the EVIL Greenie Libtards out of all semblence of any effect on normal life. The Algores, the Pitas, and all the other EVIL LEFTISTS who are out to control our lives are shit and destined for the same purgatory as the Boston Bomer, clothed in his pigskin, full of pig fat and pig shit burial attire. May they all receive the multiplicity of virgin they deserve.
Thats crazy talk...
