The demokrats and their RINO lackeys are determined to sink this economy.
Well, well. No more local purchases except for monthly routine items, and no more purchases from the bigger, fatter out-of-state companies.
Follow the lobbyist money.
I am skeptical this new regulation will help competition.
Representative XXXX,
Please do not vote for the Internet sales tax.
Obamacare is already driving small businesses out of business. The Internet is one of the few places where individual entrepreneurs can compete with the big-government/big-corporate criminal complex. Make these entrepreneurs do the bookkeeping for sales taxes in fifty states, and you will succeed in driving most of the remainder out of business.
Maybe that's your plan. If it's not, then voting for this tax will bring it to pass anyway.
Sincerely,
E. Pluribus Unum
Taxing agencies are looking at some $11 billion in new revenue. I suspect they will be scrambling to find new things to spend this on.
I’m glad my senator Ron Johnson (R) voted Nay.
I expected Tammy Baldwin (D) to vote yea, and she did.
Hope it dies a horrible death in the house! Greedy!
Whenever a bill has the word “Fairness” in it its code word for “Screw the American people as much as possible”
At every increase in taxes, people buy less. More and more burden on the economy and more and more government borrowing. When it all comes down, the country will be remade by chaos, if nothing else.
If your state has a sales tax, you are supposed to pay it now. Most people don’t know that, or have no idea how to pay. So if you order something from Amazon, and don’t pay the sales tax, you are breaking the law.
But this will not help local stores. I went into Best Buy last week, and it was like a ghost town. The local electronics store went belly up last year. Even with sales tax, they couldn’t compete. To much overhead.
Here's the problem: there are 44,000 local sales tax jurisdictions across the USA. As such, the cost of compliance would be extremely high, and the likes of Amazon.com are going to find out the high cost of opening a new data processing center just to do nothing but sales tax processing.
Those in favor of this bill say that it isn’t fair that Family Dollar has to collect state sales tax if you shop there, but if you shop online that you don’t have to pay state sales tax.
1. Yes, you do. I am supposed to pay my sales tax to my state.
2. If I’m on vacation, and I buy an item in Florida, Florida does not charge me Ohio sales tax. They charge me Florida sales tax.
3. If I’m in Ohio, and buy something from a Florida internet store, then why should the Florida store collect tax for Ohio? If anything, they should collect tax for Florida, just as if I’m a visitor there.
4. As stated in item #1, I’m supposed to pay my Ohio sales tax. That should not be the responsibility of some store owner in Florida.
5. Already, I’m trusted to pay tax on income I generate through personal effort. I am trusted to report it and pay it. They do not require the person who pays me for my work to report to the IRS that I made money off of them.
6. Small businesses are already at a tax disadvantage since they don’t receive the tax credits, incentives, reductions, etc. that come to big retailers for locating in a town or state.
“Marketplace Fairness Act”
Isn’t it funny how things done in the name of “fairness” are becoming more and more unfair?
so they’ve voted to make it nearly impossible for small businesses to conduct online transactions while large businesses, like Walmart and Target will have the run of the place because they already have the state structure in place.
Thanks guys.
This bill looks like it’s been tailored specifically to cause trouble for one specific company, Amazon. Certainly there will be other businesses hurt, but this is singling out one specific company to target and tax. Awful.
here’s a neater list of the traitors to their states from the list above. you southern conservatives better start paying attention.

You all must realize an online tax will be used to establish a list of firearms and ammo buyers and shipments - with names and addresses.....

I thought that all tax bills were SUPPOSED to originate in the House? How does the Senate have a hand in this?
Only conservatives have to work to pay a sales tax. Liberals get EBT cards and other handouts they don’t have to work for, so why should they care?
Stabenow and Levin. They suck. Again.
