In the hours that followed, Hicks says, the Libyan military agreed to fly a C-130 from Tripoli to Benghazi in the early morning hours of September 12 a flight that was to include a second team of Special Operations soldiers dispatched from the Libyan capital to join a team sent earlier to Benghazi. But as those reinforcements were leaving for the flight, they were told to stand down. Hicks received the news in an early morning phone call from a top military commander in the region.
So Lieutenant Colonel Gibson, who is the SOCAFRICA commander, his team, you know, they were on their way to the vehicles to go to the airport to get on the C‑130 when he got a phone call from SOCAFRICA which said, you can't go now, you don't have authority to go now, Hicks recalled. And so they missed the flight.

And what exactly would cause Obama not to finish his second term? Are we somehow assuming Americans are going to tune in to this mess? Are we also to assume the House GOP would have the courage to initiate impeachment proceedings and the Harry Reid-owned Senate would actually vote to remove Obama from office?
Sorry, Huck... that's not in the cards.
“bama would not finish his term.”
I doubt it. The left is extremely strong and will mobilize all its forces to protect the liar in chief.
I agree. Thats about an accurate prediction as Dick Morris boasted during the election.
I did not say what you placed in “”
They were probably told to stand down to ensure that Stevens and anyone else in the station were killed so that thwitness witnesses to the Syrian’s being armed by our own government. That’s the way they roll on this administration. Transparency, what a joke...
I posted Huck’s prediction because I believe he should be forced from office, but I sure wouldn’t go as far as Huck did when he predicted it would happen. While I can see a way resignation could happen, recent history tells me that it won’t.
Impeachment in the House followed by a conviction in the Senate seems almost impossible unless there is something even more devastating to come out.

I think they were told to stand down because Stevens was supposed to be taken hostage.. and later traded for the Blind Shiek.
The buck stops of Hussein’s desk.
If he’d get his feet off of it.
Hogwash. Not only will he finish it, he may be around for a 3rd and 4th term, and he will prosper, and there will never be any justice for any of these slime bags, or at least not in this lifetime. I hate to be so negative, but I think I am being realistic.
Reportedly, a squadron of F-18s was armed and ready. There were also reports that the Rapid Response Force based in Germany had been immediately sent to Sigonella and they were on the runway, rotors turning, ready to go.
But there was never any "Go" order.
The carrier group normally in the Mediterranean was on the other side of Suez, where they had been supporting operations in the Arabian Sea. As I recall, the group may have been in the Red Sea at the time, transiting back to the Med.
“I actually wish our side would quit talking about removing the Dear Leader (for now).”
I think you are right here. There are so many layers and strands to this scandal that it will take a lot more than a one day hearing with three witnesses to get to the bottom of it, let alone have enough for impeachment.
I suspect this hearing is designed to show the need for a select committee, and maybe also to encourage more people involved to come forward with testimony. From what has been leaked so far, there will have to be reactions from a number of people, and they may not be sure what other interviews may have taken place and what information that has uncovered.
That is what a lot of people here thought at the time.
Right before that there was talk of releasing the Blind Sheikh...then it mysteriously all went away after Benghazi.
Would it be reasonable to assume that local commanders were preparing to get underway based on maybe flash messages or even media reports? That their instincts and training told him that “go time” was imminent?
I'm not military; thus, I don't speak from experience.
But I believe it is reasonable to assume that local commanders would a.) be aware of what was happening in Benghazi and b.) would take steps to respond, then c.) await the appropriate orders.

> I think they were told to stand down because Stevens was supposed to be taken hostage.. and later traded for the Blind Shiek.
You may be right. I’ve heard that come up many times in the last few months.
You may well be right, but Obama is just a man. He has demoralized our side for sure, but he is not invincible and he cannot control the future. He cannot control what others think, say, or do. He has no control over how the country reacts to this story as the truth emerges. Maybe we are too far gone as a nation for the truth to even matter any more. I fear that’s true, but I pray it’s not.
All I know for sure is that the future is in God’s hands, not Obama’s.
