"AND LO, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS"
Matthew 28:20
One morning I stood on the bluffs overlooking the coast at Camp Pendleton. I spied an amphibious naval vessel just off shore. As I stood watching, it came into full view, then disappeared as the early morning fog came and went. The ship was always there, but it was only visible part of the time. It spoke to me of the reality of God's presence. The truth is God is always there, but our changing moods affect our ability to see. It's good days and bad days again, or would you believe, it can change moment by moment. In the times when vision is less clear, it's truly faith that helps us see and enables us to believe enough to keep trying. So, live by faith. Trust in the Lord and keep looking ahead. God is with us in the confusion of life. CAPT R. C. Brooks, CHC, USNR

Footprints in the Sand
Footprints in the Sand, a beautiful poem!
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

I know that You can do everything,
And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.
You asked, Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Listen, please, and let me speak;
You said, I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
Therefore I abhor myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.

Not a bad day, thanks! I have a mountain of paperwork to go through and made substantial progress on it today. I stopped by Behnke's - a local nursery - and picked up some tomatoes and peppers. Also got a couple of herbs and some annuals.
Watched the Derby and went out to bring some Chinese food in for dinner - good stuff. Tomorrow after Church I'll try to get the plants into the ground.

Amazing Grace (Click)
By John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. . Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, . And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! . Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. . The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. . Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. . The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine. . When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

Hi, Kathy, thanks for the ping! I’m still up and taking nourishment. Hate the state of affairs these days, but what else is new, eh? Now that Spring has arrived I think I will go into the woods and cut a few branches. Go up to D.C. and whack a few deserving people upside the head. Just to get their attention, you know.

USMCPOP...((HUGS))...wonderful idea you have there.
When you are whacking, please give the whackees a couple extra whacks in my name, although I'm not sure they have any attention to get.
A Blessed Lord's Day to you and yours.
We are forever grateful to USMC Lance Cpl. Karl R. Linn, your son, who gave his all to help keep us free.

For once I managed to get to the set just as they were loading the steeds into the gate. A very muddy track today. During the course of the race, they posted a little box showing the speed of the lead horse. It was showing 38 mph. I was impressed with that kind of speed on such a sloppy track. I wonder what they could do on a fast track.
I have many fond memories of watching the Derby with my Father, who was an Equestrian, from the time he gave pony rides as a child with his uncle in West Philly, through his adult life. After he retired from the Navy, he kept and bred Morgans on his farm in Burtonsville, Maryland.
