The bombs used in the Boston Marathon attack were built in the apartment that suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev shared with his wife and child, a U.S. law enforcement official with first-hand knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Thursday. The official was not authorized to release the information.
Katherine Russell, Tsarnaev's widow, has remained largely out of view inside her parents' North Kingstown home since her husband's death.
It remains unclear what, if anything, Tamerlan's widow might have known or suspected, the source added.
According to her attorney, Amato DeLuca, the 24-year-old widow knew nothing of plans to bomb the race, and reports of her husband's involvement came as an "absolute shock" to Russell and her family.
Tsarnaev and his younger brother, Dzhokhar, initially planned to carry out a suicide-bomb attack on July 4, a U.S. law enforcement official regularly briefed on the Boston bombing investigation told CNN. The source said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators their bombs were ready earlier than they expected and they decided to move up the date.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators that the Boston Marathon was chosen as a target only a day or two before the event, the source said.
It is unclear which specific event would have been targeted but one of the biggest July Fourth celebrations in the country is held in Boston. The annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular hosts 500,000 spectators, according to the event's website. It is televised live nationally on CBS.
The revelation comes the same day the body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev was claimed by his family and later was picked up by a funeral home, according to Terrel Harris, spokesman for the Massachusetts office of the chief medical examiner.....

I agree. My BS meter is slanting to the far left. Either this mom is dumb as rocks, their apartment had a room in which she was forbidden to enter, or she had knowledge something was going on. But if there was a room she was forbidden to enter, she had to know something was going on. If they didn't have an extra room in their small apartment from which she was forbidden to go into, it seems to me that she would have to have noticed the bomb-making supplies. Even if she didn't know what they were for, she would have to have wondered. If she knew that her husband had bomb making supplies in their apartment, she is a negligent mother. The fact that she married a Muslim says that she may not be too bright. On the other hand, if she was brought up to be a liberal, she might not have realized the danger. Regardless, I think there are enough questions to conclude that she is not telling the total truth.

Uh they lived in an APARTMENT. There is no way she didn’t know what he was doing. Unless that was a Manhattan style big place she had to have seen what was going on.

Let’s see, suppose speedbump has a private room. There he keeps a remote control car (gift to amuse baby), a pressure cooker (gift for wife), wire (to rewire m-i-l’s favorite lamp), vaseline (gift for himself). None of these items would make me suspect anything. Have I missed any ingredient? an obamaphone? what else?

What makes me think there is a whole lot more to this is the LE source saying that the surviving brother/bomber stated “The bombs were ready earlier than expected”? What did the 2 guys do put in a order at Bombs-R-US like you order a birthday cake? That is really weird. From what I have read they were instrumental in the building of these devices implying control over the construction process and they didn't use unstable compounds with a short use time window like TATP.
They also moved up their strike date from July 4th which would have been a far better date to strike for maximum PR terror effect. Its like someone in the back ground made the bombs for them to use and the 2 brothers and their school buddies were just the operations team/fall guys. I believe something happened to cause the real drivers in this operation to become rushed for time and plan “B” went into effect. Its just not being let out who are the real shadow players are and the “talented amateurs” pulled the attack off earlier than planned and are taking the heat.
Why were they in Malden, MA the night before with the bombs in the back packs? Who did they visit in Malden? Why isn’t the FBI all over Malden Square?
