Twenty-nine percent of registered voters think that an armed revolution might be necessary in the next few years in order to protect liberties, according to a Public Mind poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The poll, which surveyed 863 registered voters and had a margin of error of +/-3.4, focused on both gun control and the possibility of a need for an armed revolution in the United States to protect.
The survey asked whether respondents agreed, disagreed, neither agreed nor disagreed or did not know or refused respond to the statement: "In the next few years, an armed revolution might be necessary in order to protect our liberties"
Twenty-nine percent said they agreed, 47 percent said they disagreed, 18 percent said they neither agreed nor disagreed, 5 percent said they were unsure, and 1 percent refused to respond.

Well perhaps you should. Perhaps we all should, because VA has no more chance than IL of ever electing a majority to the legislature that would support leaving the union. So it actually sounds like I agree with you Machiv, but I take your own argument further. The ballot box at the state level is unlikely to save us.
TX is one of the few states I can conceive of it happening in, and Alaska is too cold for me. Maybe a few western states. Oklahoma. But I don’t think it’s likely, even in those states.
I own property in Texas and plan to retire in the hill country. My wife doesn’t want to go, yet.
PS: While Eric Cantor is not perfect I live in his district. Below the Rappahannock the real South begins. The last War of Northern aggression created (illegally) west virgina. I suspect another civil war will create North Virginia.
I’m a statist for opposing the state? Queer argument.
“Secession HAS a chance of being bloodless”
I disagree strongly, that is fantasy. The President would send in the bomber jets. Unless a miracle happens at the polls there will be blood, or slavery. Freedom often comes at a price. And some of us have a care for the millions who would be unable to leave the US for your hypothetical new country. I would not sit well with me to leave them in bondage under the jackboot of an Obama type. Then again I see myself as an American not a “Southerner”.
Hahahahaha. VA can leave the US but West VA can’t leave VA eh?
You would do well to quit fantasizing about that war, it’s time to move on.
Explain how a revolution solves anything? Let me answer, it solves nothing. Even if "your" side wins, the leftist will still be here, plotting anew.
A secession gives each side a physical place to go. You still don't get it do you? Your brain is incapable of fathoming what I am saying but I do this so others can learn from your ignorance.
Quite fantasizing about a revolution, move on. the revolution already happened and the leftist won. Secession is the only option left now.
The creating of West Virginia PROVES secession is Constitutional, now doesn't it? Not that any proof is needed.
Quite - I meant “quit”.
The revolution has already taken place right under our noses. The leftists, communists, fascists, whatever you want to call them, stole this government right out from under our noses while we stood by disbelieving. We were much like the Jews of pre-war Germany who just could not conceive of what was really happening. But, our Founders gave us a great gift, and enough of us appreciated it that we maintained it; the Second Amendment. This is the only thing that stands between us and total annihilation, and that is why Obama and his corrupt regime so want to destroy the concept of a right to “keep and bear arms.”
We are the counter-revolution, the true revolution of the American spirit, and ultimately ours will be the successful revolution.
It gives you certain war like last time, just like a revolution would. Much more importantly it has almost no chance of happening cause like I said STATE GOVERNMENTS SUCK. So say you're right and secession is great, still not happening. You'll never elect enough pro-secession politicians.
And I’m not counting on it though in my opinion it’s infinitely more likely than the Confederacy part 2.
Much more reasonable and like to succeed is an American answer to General Pinochet.
Until the dark times come I continue the fight at the polls. Good luck electing secessionists, that won’t be easy.
Nobody has to elect secessionist. When FedGov becomes insolvent, the dollar is worthless the people will demand relief from their state houses. Then the idea of secession will be in full bloom then. It will be demanded. Do you think Texas or Arizona is going to stand around while the country goes into full melt down? No, they won’t they will say AMF to the USA. I will then go there and be a part of it.
Quite frankly, yes. I have no faith in the state governments or people's ability to demand upon them to leave the union. Politicians are mostly crapheels, half the people are worthless sheep. You seem to have the idea that the "red states" are so much better than the "blue". Not true, they a little to moderately better, not better enough.
They=They’re.
Yep. Texas is as good as we got and it’s only a couple of election cycles away from a demographic disaster of illegals.
“Immigration Reform” is a do-nothing smokescreen while the League of Women Voters registers invaders to vote.
After 2000 some democrats wrote a book about the rising “Hispanic” vote, they said Texas would be a swing state by 2008. Their math was obviously off a wee bit on that one.
Hat Tip to Duncan. You find more than I do these days! Well done.
