Former Bush adviser and GOP strategist Karl Rove says Republicans have a good chance of taking the Senate from Democrats in 2014 if they avoid nominating the types of candidates who stumbled badly in once competitive 2012 races.
Republican success will depend on having quality Senate candidates, Rove wrote in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday. Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock self-destructed last fall, and other candidates squandered important opportunities.

I’d say Karl Rove engineered the biggest flop of all: Mitt Romney!
Based on all models, it is almost impossible that the Republicans don’t take the Senate. However with Republicans failure is always possible.
I have stated on FreeRepublic what I thought should be done to Karl Rove and got a 1 week ban for it. Needless to say I HOPE NOTHING good happens to Rove.
good advice, we will avoid nominating anyone like Bush, Dole, McCain, or Romney!
thanks for reminding us!
Shut up, Chubby. After last November’s debacle, who in their right mind would take advice from a loser like you.
Rove attacked Gov. Palin to THROW Election 2008 for
his loser candidate in 2012.
The result: Obama1 and Obama2.
Tokyo Rove owes every American an apology, and
then he should return the hundreds of millions he stole.
more like the bag man and money launderer for the GOP-e mob.
Yup. And while Rove didn’t throw his weight behind ALL the losers in the 2012 election cycle, pretty much everyone he got behind lost. It’s long past time for the GOP to put him out to pasture.
Rove hawked Bush, McCain, Romney...
Lets recall Bush couldn’t beat the likes of Gore or Kerry by more than a very slim margin.
Now he knows exactly how to win the Senate. And his prescription sounds a lot like running McCain candidates.
Is there a place where Republicans can go and unsubscribe to Carl Rove’s mouth.
Like Connie Mack, Tommy Thompson, and George Allen? Oh, he’s not talking about those failed candidates. He’s only cherry picking the ones HE didn’t like. He wants more Charlie Crists, Bob Bennett’s and Dewhursts. Those guys can’t lose!
Rove is an angry, misogynist flim-flam man. He has lost most of his credibility with the donors whose money he squandered with this PAC and his consulting gigs are drying up. So this is Tokyo Rove’s last stand.
Unfortunately, we have seen too many failed Senate candidates the past two cycles. Even in 2010, we left 2-3 seats in Dem hands we should have won. Our side is having terrible failure in state-wide elections right now, at least for national seats. We are simply getting beat in media and grassroots when we account for the densely populated centers. We need some new talent to surface quickly in campaign strategists.
Rove is the GOP version of Bob Shrum.
So glad you asked: There is indeed:
He must mean candidates like Romney,
Pray for America to Wake Up
You’re so smart. You know everything. Why don’t you try running for an office Karl?
No linkie dinkie? LOL

I assume Fat Boy is talking about his own chosen candidates. I wouldn’t want this blow-hard handling my campaign money.
