JCPenney lost nearly a third of its customers in 2012. Now, in an unprecedented move, the company is admitting it totally screwed up.
Failed CEO Ron Johnsons plan included ditching the companys popular promotions program.
Ideally, the strategy was meant to revamp JCPenneys image and appeal to young people. In reality, it alienated long-time customers, while failing to draw in new ones.

Here is a clue. The homosexuals who work for JCP will need to find another job.
No company that markets to the 4% will ever survive, even if it is uncool to call perverts perverts in the political arena. There is a huge backlash against the silent censorship the homoqueers think they have established.
The letter from the Board to American shoppers that would work:
“We are sorry that we abandoned American values by tolerating perversion. We now realize that homosexuality is wrong and apologize for championing such perverse behavior in our advertising. All board members who approved such behavior have now resigned and we invite customers back now that we have regained the focus, by obvious Biblical direction, of the original JCP founders.”
Thank you for stating this so well and you're exactly right... (I work at Penney's at ground level).
We who faced the customers daily took a beating from customers rage over the coupons and the loss of brands they were accustomed to.
Employees began to leave because the customers not only were verbal but abusive as well..I know I saw and experienced it..it was unbelievable!
Johnson wasn't listening to customers..and in fact quite the opposite of what he told the public, evidenced in his own team leaving left and right.
Managers tried many times to explain how things were on the floor...what was happening to the customer traffic and how sales were crashing in various departments....and why. But he was on a mission all his won.
When the announcement came Ellen was to be the spokeswoman for Penney’s you could have heard a pin drop in that meeting.....mouths dropped opened while the management team attempted to be positive about it. The worst meeting I'd ever been in...the silence was deafening....but spoke volumes. Employees were not on board but couldn't say so.
The Gays featured in catalogs just added to the already offended and angered customer...but even they said little about that...except in whispers.
But you are absolutely right ..and I thank you for stating so.
I understand completely what you are saying....I was looking for other work because I hated what was happening to the company at all levels. But it was the homosexual push that caused some employees to leave and I wasn’t far behind them...even I started looking for work elsewhere.
Of course no employee gave that reason for leaving...but it was one of the reasons some left.
I like it!
I’m laughing at that because it hurts so much. Too true.

That'll swear me off J.C. Penney for good.
Same here. Good catch on the Soros - J.C. Penney relationship, NautiNurse!
Burlington Coat Factory did the same thing some years ago. They hired some little queer designer who had a TV show. Guy was creepy. I went in to buy bed clothes, and couldn’t find anything masculine. Nothing! Headed for Kohl’s, and haven’t looked back.
J C Penny Who?
thanks for the ping, never knew...
also, i saw something in the news about jc penny and johnson, they are going back to using coupons.
You would think it's obvious... Maybe the problem is the 'leaders' are totally out of touch with everyday Americans. Nothing else makes sense.
Coupons can be found on line...and in the “fliers” going out now...some should have them already...also tthey stopped that stupid catolog ...fliers are back!
Also, some of the lines that were eliminated under Johnson will be coming back...they already have St. John’s Bay back in the store.
The customers are very glad seeing coupons again...and store traffic is up since then....now to get the store back to being Penneys....and not something else altogether.
Remember when Johnson announced you could return merchandise anytime to anystore and there were no time limits. Well things were returned from ages ago...boxes that sat on shelves til they were yellowed....there was a huge drag on sales for those returns...it was a circus!
Management attempted to tell Johnson there was no way they could maintain the sales goals with returns coming in so fast and furious.....it took him along time before he changed that equation.
That was just one of the many screw-ups...and there were many.
Sounds like the strategy of the Republican Party.

Good point!
