Posted by CNN's Ashley Killough

(CNN) – California Gov. Jerry Brown, a Democrat, signed legislation Wednesday that will boost funding for state efforts to confiscate firearms from those prohibited by law from owning them, the governor's office announced.

The bill gives $24 million from the Dealers' Record of Sale fund - fees paid by gun owners at the time of purchase - to the state's Department of Justice to help clear the backlog of individuals who once purchased a gun but are now barred from possessing firearms.

The state's Bureau of Firearms has identified about 20,000 Californians who illegally hold an estimated 40,000 handguns and assault weapons, with the list growing by 15 to 20 every day.

The money will fund 36 additional agents to increase enforcement of the operation that confiscates such weapons. Cities most targeted in the Armed and Prohibited Persons program include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno and Riverside.

Perhaps they should just hide their gun and claim they gave it away?

-
24 million dollars for 36 agents...that’s 600 thousand dollars per each.

I was just working on the math. Watch the list of barred individuals grow, the definition of illegal to evolve, the inexcusable swat raids to increase and good people to get hurt.

Registration ALWAYS leads to confiscation.

In Mexifornia you cannot legally purchase a firearm unless it’s registered.

This will, of course, do nothing to remove weapons from the criminals who don’t bother with licenses or registration anyway.

Well, well. Sounds like some Constitution loving Americans in CA need to stand up and fight. If not, you are next.

While Obama has a nice flexible redline, real Americans do not. Confiscation for all is coming to CA. Don't expect material help from free America if you don't first make a stand.

The government will defend the confiscations by saying that they are only taking them from “prohibited persons”, but what they won’t tell you is that they will gradually increase the qualifications in order for you to remain on the “allowed persons” list that practically everyone will be put on the “prohibited persons” list. That is everyone except the ruling class and their pet elites.

Hey. I've got a better idea!

How about the Guv send those new jack boot hires down to the barrios and ghettos and start confiscating some of the stolen guns owned by the 100,000 or so gang members and cartel sicaros infesting the place and causing genuine mayhem?

Oh, wait a minute. You say those agents might get hurt?

Well, never mind. Just go ahead and go after the innocent people who obeyed the law and registered their guns in the first place. It is much easier and safer that way...

CA is flush with cash.

We can lower taxes here and still have an excess.

Each agent gets 500,000 rounds of ammo from DHS.

Where do you live? You are very wrong. You can buy a firearm from anyone but it must go through a FFL transaction IAW California regulations.

What do you think the FFL transaction accomplishes? Yes, registration. Illegal registration but it is still registration.
