The morning-after pill is to be made available over the counter to anyone in the US aged 15 and over, authorities announced on Tuesday.
Days before a court-imposed deadline, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lowered the age limit for Plan B and said it that a prescription would no longer be required to buy it. Instead, the pill can sit on drugstore shelves just like condoms, but buyers will have to prove their age at the cash register.
Earlier this month, a federal judge ruled that Plan B should be sold without restriction and gave the FDA 30 days to act. The FDA said its latest decision was independent of the court case.
Scientists, government health agencies and groups including the American Medical Association, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics have recommended unrestricted access to emergency contraceptives for years. The FDA said in a December 2011 memo that "there is adequate and reasonable, well-supported, and science-based evidence that Plan B One-Step is safe and effective and should be approved for nonprescription use for all females of child-bearing potential".
That recommendation, delivered as the campaign for the 2012 presidential election was getting under way, was overruled by the US secretary of health and human services, Kathleen Sebelius.
In a judgment last month, US federal district court judge Edward Korman described the restriction as "a strong showing of bad faith and improper political influence". He said the decision was "arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable", and ruled Plan B should be made available without age restrictions.

As if it isn’t already hard enough to keep a fifteen year old girl child on the straight and narrow path her parents have raised her on.
As soon as this stuff goes on sale, all the teenage girls will be sharing them like candy. Grrrr....

Pedal to the metal, off the cliff into the abyss. And then the teenage girls who wait too long for the this abortifacient pill - they'll have to have another cheap and easy way to kill the offspring, so the next step would be free abortions with transportation to and from school, or maybe at the school,
Nothing lasts forever, I wonder what's next up.
Anyone wanting on/off either poing list, freepmail me. I will try to do more pinging now.
In some states the age of consent is 16 years or even 18 years.... Are the pharmacies going to rat out the recipients of these socially approved pills ?????
Will the sperm-donor get a knock on the door ...and off to the local jail for him? (You know it does take a "him" to be a genuine "sperm donor"?)
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

It was the Obama administration that refused to allow over-the counter sales to minors. It was a Ronald Reagan-appointed federal judge (Korman) who overturned the decision.
That goes for Constitutional federal agencies that comprise the liberal agenda, as well.
Then they will go after the pharmacies and try to pull their licesnes.
I don’t believe you. In what state can a 14 year old girl legally marry a 15 year old boy? And if such a thing happened, obviously the whole gang of them is so whacked out such violence would happen even if she had been allowed to kill the baby in the womb. And another reason your lame argument is fake is because abortion is legal. So if this 14 year old girl went crazy because she had a baby she didn’t want, she could have legally aborted it, or legally had it adopted.
Why are you promoting abortion on FR? The morning after pill is an abortifacient.
I can see some sharp marketer packaging a pill in
every pack of condoms...
The schools can’t give our children an aspirin, but the FDA can hand out pills and promote abortions? What happens when a minor “dies” from their morning after pill? Who do the parents sue? The Regime?

Anyone want to speculate how long it will take until some kid dies taking this?
I give it 6 months tops.
I am not promoting abortion. You obviously do not know how to comprehend the written word. Good luck on your education.
Prescription or no prescription, how safe is the morning after pill? When news of this pill first came out I recall reading something about China wanting to supply the pill to Americans. WTF??? How really stupid would it be....for us to accept morning after pills manufactured in China...considering their past track record re: dangerous and destructive products exported here? Not to mention their known human rights violations track record.
If China is indeed allowed to ‘provide’ the morning after pill to Americans with the full sanction by Obama and the Democrat leftists in power, what are they aiming for here? Mass sterilization? I can’t think of a better way for one of America’s enemies to ‘bring us down’ than that. Of course....we probably wouldn’t know the pills caused sterilization until it was way too late.
Call me paranoid, but this issue has been a concern of mine for some time now. And that concern and worry is not going away.
“anyone in the US aged 15 and over”
OK, say I’m a male, over 60.
Can I go buy some? Why? Why not?
Does anyone care?
What difference does it make?
Progressives won’t care.
That’s just more guaranteed income for the tort lawyers.
I see television adverts soliciting lawsuit plaintiffs for birth control all the time.

Oh it gets much worse. In some states a girl 16 is medically an adult. Meaning the county health department {funded by state} can do STD, pregnancy testing, even dispense this pill {which has significant risk} without your knowledge or permission. As a matter of fact under some state laws parents can not obtain this information from doctors or health department. This has been going on for some time.
I think that the ridiculous assumption here is that 15-year old girls are rational adults, and will follow directions, etc. These are potentially dangerous and powerful drugs. If they did something else - actually, ANYTHING else...I guarantee that they would require a prescription. Basically, “plan B” is an slight overdose of certain hormones, and women have been doing plan B for years by taking several higher-dose types of birth control pills the morning after.

The kids (yes, kids) who are supposed to be reading directions are the same ones that believe that you can’t get pregnant the first time and that a rubber band works.
Heh, heh - “rational adults”...I suppose that doesn’t include the 42% that don’t know that Obamacare is a law...
Well, I wouldn’t take them because you will might get manboobs.
