Taylor Swift is adding to her property portfolio after securing a $17.75 million deal for a new seaside home in Rhode Island.
The I Knew You Were Trouble hitmaker recently went house hunting along the U.S. northeast coast with her mother Andrea, father Scott and younger brother Austin, and she appears to have settled on a lavish estate in the town of Westerly.
The property, which boasts five bedrooms and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, had reportedly been on the market for $20 million - but Swift managed to use her charms to negotiate the lower price -- she paid in cash.

I’ve heard that said. My father was a 30-year Navy man, so until I went to college in San Antonio, it was all salt water, all the time.
Now my daughter is in the Coast Guard ... I think the ocean thing skipped a generation.
I wouldn’t know, never met them.
They remind me of some of my in-laws.
Or fishing.
That’s racist?
Five bedrooms? If I spent $17m I’d think it would have more than that.

Hehehehe... Good for her.
Yes, I have teenage girls who are fans, so I’ve listened to a lot of her music. She’s a very talented song writer. Her songs have melodies, and she covers a variety of styles.
My favorite song is, “Haunted,” her hardest rocker, and “December.”
Yes, her fans are mainly young girls, but that’s because she wrote her own lyrics as a teenager.
It looks like she is going to avoid the fate of Britney Spears and Linsey Lohan (good parenting), and because she’s so prolific, she could become one of the biggest acts in music history. I expect her to rival Streisand and Carey in the pantheon of female singers.
I live in TN and I take offense...where did you get my elementary school picture?
lol
Are we related? I've got family they remind me of.
Must be - everything else is.
From your brother.
My teenage daughters are fans, too. I encourage them to imitate Taylor Swift’s work ethic, but not her relationship history.
My 15-year-old is better looking and has a better voice, but she doesn’t have the drive! (And doesn’t write songs.) You’d think being paid cash for playing guitar at Spanish church events would be a motivator, but no. I still have to say, “You’re doing this whether you want to or not,” when I need a guitarist. Then she gets 20 or 30 dollars for an hour, and she’s all excited, but the slacker urge is so strong ...
I wouldn’t know a song she has, & could care less. Obviously she must appeal to teenies from liberal dumb-ass families who are spending loads of Daddy’s cash to bankroll Taylor Swift. BTW, isn’t Taylor a boy’s name?
Lakes are great, but they’re different from the ocean. Check out the Cape Cod National Seashore, sometime. It’s breathtaking.
Cape Cod a short drive from RI, which has jet-set shorlines (Newport), and NYC, too.
The nice thing about NE is that within 200 miles you can visit a variety of dramatically different environments.
We all know what the drawbacks are. I wish conservatives would invade MA and RI. It’s beautiful here.
