PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Students at Carnegie Mellon say it’s freedom of expression, but the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh calls it inappropriate and disrespectful.
At an annual art school parade, a female student dressed up as the pope, and was naked from the waist down while she passed out condoms.
Even more, witnesses say the woman had shaved her pubic hair in the shape of a cross.
The Diocese has asked CMU to take action.
“I think we all know that when we’re growing up we do stupid things but to cross over the line in this instance shouldn’t happen with anybody,” Bishop David Zubik said.
CMU issued a statement, saying “We are continuing our review of the incident. If our community standards or laws were violated, we will take appropriate action.”

What’s that we hear? The university’s hiring her as a “professor of community organizing?”
The best way to approach this is from an unexpected direction. That is, instead of objecting to what she did, object to her doing something totally imaginary. Since relatively few people saw her, it will throw a monkey wrench into things. For example, a rewrite of the story:

If *this* message was released, imagine the hypocritical hysteria from all involved in the offensive display. Not only would they babble something about her looking like the Pope, not the wife of Mohammed, but they would fall over themselves apologizing to Muslims while sniveling: “Don’t kill us!”
I think it would make a hilarious lesson to them.

Well, these are the kind of people the Lord came to save and as hard as it is I will continue to pray for their repentance. Sometimes I get so tired of this but if the Lord did it so can I.

Absolutely. If she thinks this reflected poorly on the Pope, then she’s an idiot. The only person that looked like a jackass here was her. I live not far from CMU (I could walk & in fact, did jog around their campus Saturday morning), and even the hardcore lefties I happen to know thought this was distasteful & stupid.
My take on it is a bit stronger: I see it as downright blasphemous.

College students always try to be as outrageous as possible, and the Catholic Church is an easy target of the sex-obsessed crowd.
Actually, she’s probably aborted a child and this acting out is a way to justify herself.
The very public pubic “mutilation,” the sign of the cross in shaving the pubic hair is interesting.
