Way to go, Peach State!
Gov. Nathan Deal yesterday signed S.B. 160 - a tough expansion of Georgia's H.B. 87, the Arizona-style law cracking down on illegal aliens, which passed in 2011.
The La Raza lobby was left stunned and upset, believing Deal would bend to the prevailing GOP pressure for immigration appeasement in Washington, and veto it. They were sadly mistaken.
Passed in the final hours of the General Assemblys 40-day session - and despite fierce lobbying against it by ethnic intimidation groups, big business interests, and the ACLU - Senate Bill 160 was created to "fix" problems in licensing delays related to the old bill, but was later amended to add the following strong anti-illegal provisions, all now law:
About 1,500 illegals and supporters marched through downtown Atlanta on April 10 in support of the 'Gang of 8' amnesty plan, and to demand that Deal veto SB 160. Two days earlier, SWA posted a request to bombard to Governor's office with calls, to our 22,000 Georgia members. Georgia's citizens won the day, and the sour grapes were in abundant harvest yesterday:

Another reason to love Georgia.
Thank God, I don’t live in the big peach Pit.
What’s the big peach Pit?
NOPE. Lower courts and/or the SCOTUS have already upheld these provisions. They may sue on the passports issue, but Federal RealID guidelines will cause them to lose. This is a BIG win, and solid in court. All a state has to do is find the will to do it.
Thanks for the info.
Go Georgia!
I imagine on Peachtree Something street they are sad.
- Bans illegal aliens from getting state drivers licenses.
- Blocks illegal aliens from getting state, grants, public housing and retirement benefits.
- Prevents people from using foreign passports to obtain public benefits, unless those passports include records indicating they are in the country legally.
- Mandatory participation in E-Verify for contractors doing business with city, county and state government agencies.
Atlanta.
I don’t go to town if I can avoid it.
I lived downtown for 15 years as an urban pioneer,
never again.
Amen, Brother. I enjoy life down here south of the Macon-Dixon line
Where I live now it’s quiet at night no cars, no
sirens, only occasional shooting usually my own.
Sometimes I even sleep with my door open,
you couldn’t do that where I lived before,
do you know how creepy it is to see your door knob turning
as someone tries it?
Had enough of it.
Sounds like Oregon and Washington States.
The major cities - Portland, Salem in Oregon, and Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver in Washington - are magnets for welfare and entitlement programs. Thus they have the majority of Democratic Party votes that dominate the rest of the population in those states.
Is that how it is in Atlanta?
The other day a local radio host was interviewing our republican state rep. who just introduced Dr. Licenses for illegals. He informed me that no one could do a thing to enforce immigration at the state level. And no, he couldn’t see the insanity of this rep defying federal law to give out licenses.

Good for Georgia!
Good Deal.
Just wondering what Zell Miller thinks of his party today.
Hah! That was Gwinnett in 1987. No more—AND I have to live with Hank Johnson.
I have not been to downtown Atlanta in 15 years. The last time I was down there I negotiated with Jesus all the way back to my car. I don’t go there for any reason.
God bless Nathan Deal for signing the new bill. Since 2011 so many of these illegals have fled the state and we are in such a better quality of life.
