The federal government is spending $152,000 to study “voice therapy” for transgenders, saying it is incumbent to being “accepted as one's preferred gender.”
“This study will illuminate the capabilities of the human larynx and inform the relationship between voice production and perception,” states a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, awarded to George Washington University. “The long term goal of this research is to inform and provide new directions for Transgender (TG) voice care, thereby improving the lives of TG people who feel their voice is a great obstacle to living as their preferred gender.”
“Incomplete gender presentation can negatively impact the TG individual's job opportunities, relationships, and social acceptance,” the study explains. “Results of this project will advance an aspect of gender transition vital to being accepted as one's preferred gender and living a successful, healthy life.”
George Washington University received $152,500 in 2012 from the NIH’s National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. Adrienne B. Hancock, an assistant professor at GWU, is leading the project.

Hormonal treatments to achieve what you THINK you want are only gonna do so much.
The issue with this is not that its a silly study or that its $152,000. Its that is is symptomatic of a bloated, out-of-control government that spends and spends and can’t be stopped. Day in and day out, the federal government spends money on a whole host of useless and in some cases subversive projects. No one really knows exactly what the government is spending money on. Every once in a while, someone notices something sensational like this. But there are a lot of less sensational, useless spending projects. It is prime evidence that we have a government that is out of control; that we can’t reform spending; that we have to simply CUT spending by a fairly large amount to get rid of this type of BS spending.

Just a correction to you post - transgender USED to mean they had done the surgery and actually “chopped off” anatomy - now it just means you are dressing as the other gender. Seriously - anyone can dress as a woman and claim to be transgendered and get special treatment.

If you have to work to be someone then you are obviously not that someone! If you got girl parts, you're a girl. If you got boy parts then you're a boy. It's not that hard to understand.
The states have never delegated to Congress via the Constitution the specific power to tax and spend for studying voice therapy for transgenders. In fact, one of the few things that the states have given Congress the constitutional authority to do regarding non-military issues is to regulate postal services as evidenced by the Constitution’s Clause 7 of Section 8 of Article I.
Getting back to this voice study, corrupt Congress is arguably spending money it stole from Constitution-ignorant citizens in the form of constitutionally indefensible federal taxes, likely no more than an excuse to fill somebody’s pockets with with tax dollars as is probably the case with federal dollars spend to study global warming, build wind farms, build solar energy plants, manufacture electric vehicles, etc..
After a starting salary of $112,000.00 for the director of trans gender voice studies, that doesn’t leave much for the actual studies.
The only thing that pisses me off more than this is that the worthless Republican party isn't doing anything they can to roadblock as much of this nonsense as possible.
