'GOP' Pollster Frank Luntz Denounced Limbaugh, Levin as 'Problematic' for GOP Future By Tim Graham Created 04/25/2013 - 7:11am
The leftists at Mother Jones are brandishing another secret tape. Pollster Frank Luntz, denounced as too conservative by liberals when he turns up on liberal networks, told a group of college students at the University of Pennsylvania this week that Rush Limbaugh and right-wing talk radio are "problematic" for the GOP and that he and Mark Levin were killing Marco Rubio for his immigration proposals.
Democrats have got every other source of news on their side. And so that is a lot of what's driving it. If you takeMarco Rubio's getting his ass kicked. Who's my Rubio fan here? We talked about it. He's getting destroyed! By Mark Levin, by Rush Limbaugh, and a few others. This might be a surprise to anyone who's listened to Rubio's actual interviews on conservative talk radio.
Luntz added, He's trying to find a legitimate, long-term effective solution to immigration that isn't the traditional Republican approach, and talk radio is killing him. That's what's causing this thing underneath. And too many politicians in Washington are playing coy. He also warned that if the GOP did not resolve its internal divides, it could lose the House of Representatives next year.
So much for trying to go "off the record" with a group of college kids, some of whom love Mother Jones:
Luntz asked if anyone was recording the event, and Eric Kaplan, a reporter from the college paper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, indicated that he was. Luntz requested that he turn off his recording device. Kaplan did so and agreed that this part of Luntz's talk would remain off the record. But one of the students present, Aakash Abbi, a junior majoring in philosophy, politics, and economics, started to record Luntz on his iPhone (without letting Luntz know), and Abbi has provided that recording to Mother Jones.
David Corn of Mother Jones added that this activist didn't tape everything he wanted people to know. "Abbi and two other attendees (who wish to remain anonymous), asserted that it had been irresponsible (and bad for the GOP) for right-wing talkers to pontificate about women's bodies and birth controlan obvious reference to Limbaugh's attacks last year on Sandra Fluke, a law student invited to testify before Congress on health insurance coverage of contraception. (Abbi didn't catch this part of Luntz's reply on his recording.)"
He said Luntz was blaming polarization and the GOP's problems partly on conservative media, but he didn't want his criticism of Limbaugh, Levin, and the others to reach beyond this classroom. "He was clear on this basic point: Right-wing media is not serving the national debate and not helping the GOP widen the party's appeal beyond its declining base."
Some bird is missing her nest.
I listen to Levin every day and he has been very cordial and fair to Marco Rubio.
When Mark disagrees he raises legitimate common sense questions and concerns.
He has educated me more then any self-interested politician.
Luntz is a puntz and I hate this focus group crap.
These proposals need to be killed. By the way, ever notice that someone always has to "kill" these stupid ideas? It never occurs to lameoids like Luntz that some ideas are so bad they just kill themselves?
That’s because the Republican party wants to become “Democrat Party Mark II”
The worst hair piece on TV.
What’s “problematic” for the GOP’s future is the GOP itself, Frank. Don’t blame Limbaugh, Levin, or any other conservative commentator for the direction this party is going, vis-a-vis immigration, homo marriage and the ongoing secret attempts to shield themselves from Obamacare.
I wish Levin and Rush WOULD help destroy the Republican party. Instead they can be counted on in the end to support whoever the establishment Republicans shove down our throat, and the Republican leadership knows it, so why should they change. They know both Rush and Mark will be telling their listeners that they MUST vote for Jeb Bush in 2016. So we are probably going to get Jeb in 2016.
Limbaugh could stand to become more, America-first.
He’s got a good message. Bordering on a great message.
But he’s not about keeping America strong. That matters more every single day.
Bring back American jobs, and export.
We’ve been selling out America now for an entire generation.
Rush: Change direction about American production please.
Bring it back now.
Levin is only asking for one thing...border security NOW. He doesn’t by the triggers and jabboewocky of it “shall” happen...later when... That has never worked, Mark knows it, we all know it. So secure the borders, and Levin is in board. (Anyone not listening to his FREE podcasts is really missing the boat. His thinking is crystal clear.)
I refuse to vote for ‘Jeb” - no fng way.
Frankie, the almost completely idealogically compromised composition of the GOP is problematic for the GOP.
That’s ok Frank,Hannity is stealing your shtick.
I see he didn’t include Hannity. Is it because he didn’t want to be dis-invited on his TV show?
He can have his opinions, but he has lost his neutrality. And what a jerk not to realize that asking for ‘’ no recordings” was an open invitation!
Oh my....a guy makes remarks to some college kids and David Corn acts like he has a scoop. How fruit.
Luntz didn’t bash Hannity, did he? I wonder why....
Ditto here. It's a moot point, as the GOP will never win a presidential election again.
Funny!
I think that if things keep drifting leftward....eventually the right will come back but with wised up youngsters in tow.If France can produce a huge right-wing movement replete with youngsters raiding mosques and fighting gay marriage and anti-white racism it will happen here too GOP or not.
If his vision of the GOP future is that it be Dem lite, then he is 100 percent correct.
Dissent is not to be tolerated.
:: Sandra Fluke, a law student invited to testify before Congress on health insurance coverage of contraception. ::
Even Luntz should know that Fluke, tho “invited”, did not testify before any congressional committee but did speak in front of a ‘partisan panel of Dhimmicrats’ [my term] regarding contraception.
Fluke’s so called “testimony” was simply a verbal press release from Pelosi, Boxer and other like-minded CITIZENS who happen to be in the US Congress.
