George W. Bush Tells Jeb to ‘Run,’ Says Jeb vs. Hillary Would Make ‘Fantastic Photo’ [VIDEO]
ABC News ^ | 4-24-2012 | Rick Klein

Posted on 04/24/2013 4:03:05 PM PDT by bimboeruption

Former President George W. Bush says he isn’t interested in playing on the national political stage any longer. But for family, he’s making an exception.

Asked in an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer whether he thinks his brother former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush should run for president in 2016, the ex-president was unequivocal.

“He’d be a marvelous candidate if he chooses to do so. He doesn’t need my counsel ’cause he knows what it is, which is ‘run,’ ” the elder Bush brother said about Jeb’s possible candidacy, in an interview that first aired Wednesday on “World News with Diane Sawyer.” “But whether he does or not, it’s a very personal decision.”

The former president even allowed himself to picture the potential 2016 matchup: Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Rodham Clinton. It would be a family rematch of the 1992 election, when George H.W. Bush lost to Bill Clinton.

“It’ll be a fantastic photo here. It would certainly eclipse the museum and the center,” Bush said on the eve of the formal opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University, just outside Dallas. “I’m interested in politics. I’m, you know, I’m fascinated by all the gossip and stuff that goes on. But the field won’t be become clear ’til after the midterms.”

Asked for a word of advice to the Republican Party, the former president struck an optimistic note amid rounds of GOP soul-searching: “You will exist in the future,” he said with a smile.

On several major issues, though, Bush made clear he’s staying away from day-to-day political battles.

No new laws loosening immigration or the status of illegal aliens!! NO AMNESTY!! NO “LEGAL” STATUS OF ANY KIND FOR THE ILLEGAL BORDER CROSSERS!!

Do your sworn duty to the constitution Senator Paul, or get the hell OUT and let someone with the BALLS to secure the nation, secure the borders take your place!!

Off topic, but I wanted to thank you for Free Republic. I used to do usenet news back in the day. Free Republic is vastly superior. I like Rand Paul thus far, I think he is much more like Cruz then Rubio so until he proves me wrong (hope he doesn’t) I will hold my fire.

Well, Laura was a McGovern booster in conservative Midland in 1972. That says a lot. But George McGovern was more sincere than she.

I like the word “sellout”. I think it was first applied to Chief Justice Jay and his “Federalist sellout” treaty of 1794, or probably earlier. Now the sellouts are so numerous that they can’t be listed by the human mind.

Hmmm, guess it is time to turn on the TV and see what is happening. I mostly rely on FR and Drudge for news. I am praying the gang of 8 thing fails.

Reagan was an exceptional President, but his most exceptional talent was for selecting and appointing truly outstanding , capable and committed people to his administration.

Do you mean Anthony Kennedy, Sandra Day O'Connor, Jim Baker, Michael Deaver, or just who? In fairness, he did have Ed Meese and Raymond Donovan.

“As we speak” is just a form of speech. Here he is just last week:

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2013/0417/Why-Rand-Paul-could-be-key-player-on-immigration

Why Rand Paul could be key player on immigration

Sen. Rand Paul hopes to attract conservatives to immigration reform by requiring annual certification of border security for five years before any undocumented immigrants could be granted legal status.

Again, we don’t need or want any new immigration laws. Just do your duty and enforce the laws already on the books. Anything less is a gift to the liberty hating democrats and turncoat McGOP-e!! The demoncrats have absolutely zero intention of EVER securing the borders regardless of any surrender by the treasonous, idiotic gang of eight plus one, (McPaul) and possibly two (McRyan).

Paul is naively and willingly riding the McCain/McGrahamesty/McRubio/McFlake train to tens of million new Mexican Democrat voters in America!!

STOP THE MADNESS!! NO “LEGAL” STATUS, EVER!!

From the linked article:

Sen. Rand Paul (R) of Kentucky hasn’t been a major part of the immigration reform debate to this point.

But as the Senate begins to put a bipartisan immigration reform bill through the legislative process, he may be the chairman of what could be called the Getting to Yes Caucus: deeply conservative lawmakers who want to tweak the bill in order to bring more conservative support, not battering the measure with poison pill amendments in an effort to kill it.

“I am for immigration reform, I am for finding a place for those who are in our country, whether documented or undocumented, finding a place for them if they want to work,” said Senator Paul at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor on Wednesday.

RECOMMENDED: Could you pass a US citizenship test?

Paul acknowledged there are some in his party who simply won’t be won over. One of those deeply opposed to the current immigration reform effort made his stance clear just hours after Paul spoke.

“As we explore [the bill’s] many flaws and loopholes in the coming days, I am confident the American public will firmly reject it,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) of Alabama in a statement.

Despite intractable opposition from those like Senator Sessions, Paul believes a convincing package of border security proposals could bring a larger group of Republican lawmakers into voting for a comprehensive fix to the immigration system.

Er, Senator Paul, the immigration system is not broken. That’s the same line of crap they put out about our healthcare system during the FUBO Marxist healthcare “debate.”

The liberal/liberaltarian/RINO view of immigration policy is what is broken.

NO AMNESTY!! NO OPEN BORDERS.

Just ENFORCE THE LAW and we will be fine!!

Border jumping is ALREADY illegal. Hiring illegals is ALREADY illegal. Harboring illegals is already illegal. Offering aid and comfort to lawbreakers is already illegal. Shorting the pay of illegals is already illegal. Paying them under the table is already illegal. Failure by employers to withhold and or account for payments to illegals is already illegal. Falsifying/forging documents to obtain employment, medical care, welfare, foodstamps, bank accounts, or for any other purpose whatsoever is already illegal.

Illegals live in the shadows for good reason.

Duh, they’re here ILLEGALLY and they are knowingly committing an illegal act!! They are lawbreakers!! They’re already criminals!! ANY act of congress changing their status is AMNESTY!!

Any willful failure of FUBO or his America-hating underlings or accomplices (including Rand Paul if he goes along with this crap) to enforce the law and secure the borders especially while the nation is at war is TREASON! Look it up in the constitution.

NO amount of new laws or “reform” will improve the situation!!

It’s just like the existing laws against murder or armed robbery, etc. Thee crimes are already illegal!! NO amount of unconstitutional infringing gun laws will improve that situation!!

Just ENFORCE THE LAW!! SECURE THE BORDERS!! SECURE THE NATION!!
