WASHINGTON Sen. Rand Paul is calling for conservatives to embrace the cause of immigration reform, outlining a proposal that would grant some form of legal status to the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants after the federal government has certified that the border is secure.
Pauls proposal, outlined in a speech to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington on Tuesday, carefully avoided the term citizenship. Instead, the Kentucky senator said he sought a middle ground that would include a multi-year process of granting visas to undocumented workers that would hinge on the annual verification of the security of the U.S.-Mexico border.
Paul echoed the key finding of an internal review from the Republican National Committee that called for the party to recast its image in order to attract minority voters, saying the GOP must change the perception of the party as anti-immigrant.
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration.

I’m going to email him and tell him what I think of his amnesty push.
You apparently are unaware that the Republican party was born out of the libertarian movement?
I;ve read a couple of their whoppers, he;s socially conservative, he would never do this, he;s trying to appeal to Hispanics, he won’t fight a losing battle so what else do you all want.
They are just off two of this supporters who admitted they have supported him for years and now they can’t admit they were wrong so the whoppers come out
Undocumented=Illegal which means AGAINST THE LAW!
what is wrong with everyone?
The LA Times..yep, I believe what they say ...fer sure.
In my best New Jersy’ese. Yo Rand I got your immigration reform right here!!!
Dear Senator Paul,
We are sure your heart and mind are in the right place but your TIMING IS OFF.
We are sure that immigration policy and laws need to be reformed BUT NOT NOW.
When we have a Senate controlled by Tea Party approved conservatives THEN WE’LL TALK.
Now with all due respect to your highnesses in the GOP Senate, GET BUSY AND SUPPORT SARAH PALIN TO ELECT US A CONSERVATIVE SENATE THAT WE CAN ENTRUST WITH IMMIGRATION REFORM.
Sincerely,
Your humble unwashed masses.
Well, then, since I”M not an attorney I certainly don’t know the answer before YOU ask the question.
Whoever posted this a weeka fter the bombings was dong so to invite criticism and outrage toward Rand Paul.
Your question is obnoxious as is the entire post.
IF Sen. Paul does not think differently about immigration as must all reasonable but lenient lawmakers, then fine. I say we give it some time, though, and not react to a statement he made a month ago.
I’ll go further and say that of all the criticism and self loathing of GOP that they, if they are going to face the huge latino and black communities, should do so as Rand Paul is attempting to do.
Get out there and see what’s going on and now, not April of 2016.
But do answer your own insinuating, pushy question.
Illegal aliens, un-protected borders and the last amnesty deal are part of the problem we are havuing today. Nothing to talk about until the borders are closed tight and have been for a long time and they have been deporting and keeping out at least the criminal illegal alien element for a long time. No more anchor babies, no more welfare to illegal aliens. Those four things for ten years and then we can talk about it.
Also tomorrow, Paul Ryan is having an immigration rally with Luis Gutierrez in Chicago. Yes, Luis freaking Gutierrez.

I think the GOP just decided after 2012 to ditch its base completely and start over. Good luck with that.
It recalls the solidarity rally that Senator Joe McCarthy had with Comrade Stalin back on Mayday in 1951. /s
FOR PEACE!
FOR POT!
FOR LEGAL HOOKERS!
FOR AMNESTY TO ILLEGAL ALIENS!
FOR RAND PAUL!
Episcopalian Churches are notoriously liberal
Explains a lot about the Paul family and their immoral support of Libertarianism and the years of calling for legal hookers, legal drugs, lowering of age of consent, now gay marriage...and claim it is all about Liberty
Find me any quotes of them calling for any of that.
Rand Paul can go suck an Egg
It doesn’t ever. It isn’t a trade. Let’s secure the borders and then we’ll secure the boarders.
One month is NOT that long ago...perhaps Rand's had an epiphany and has done a 180 on his views from ONE MONTH AGO. I'd love to hear from knowledgable FReepers, if that's the case.
I've looked and cannot find anything more recent on his ancient /s immigration views. Good day.
Ditto.
