An unbylined Associated Press report (graphic saved here) appearing at ABC News (time-stamped 9:51 a.m. at the AP's main national site; graphic saved here) reports that Boston Mayor Tom Menino appeared on ABC's "This Week" and said, in the AP's words, that "the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing acted alone."
The brief AP report's third paragraph then has Menino saying, again in AP's words, that "another person was taken into custody" after "a pipe bomb was found in another location." This apparent inconsistency seems to be an attempt by the mayor to minimize the degree of homegrown "sleeper cell" concerns, especially in light of reports containing a cascade of contradicting details which follow the jump.
Currently, Matt Drudge and U.S. Blogs are relaying this information, while the U.S. establishment press, based on a Google News search at 11:30 a.m. sorted by date on "Tsarnaev sleeper cell" (not in quotes), are not. One would think that the U.S. press has better access to FBI and law enforcement sources than UK-based outlets. If so, unless the UK outlets are being played (which seems a remote possibility, given the degree of detail presented), why haven't they learned these things? Or worse, have they learned them and chosen to hold off reporting them?
If the kind of disparity in public officials' statements and press reports continues much longer, it will be worth asking whether there is an attempt to bottle up the truth of what led to the Boston Marathon bombings and the presence of other similar sleeper cells in the U.S.
To admit that it was part of a large conspiracy is to admit that the liberals are wrong about their open borders policies.
In Europe it seems the story is already back page news.

Poor "media". Turns out the bombers were jihadists bent on killing people for their religion, and not "angry white guys/Christians". Can't write bad things about Muslims, wouldn't be "culturally sensitive", but slamming Christians, even when we haven't done anything is just fine with our "media". Screw 'em.

Proof will be in the pudding. Terrorists around the world certainly were heartened by our feeble defenses last week, and likely view these two Muslims as amateurish in their skills. Another attack with greater loss of life is inevitable. There are innumerable other soft targets that are far scarier to imagine. We were terrorized by one 8 y.o. dying. Wait until it’s 50-75 grammar school children. Conservatives simply need to make this point over and over until reality sets in: we’re at war, and to not recognize the enemy is a ticket to catastrophe.

Have we seen a picture of the place that Tamerlane lived? Have we heard what they found at that place? I remember last July in Aurora, they were immediately at Holmes’ apartment, describing the booby traps and evacuating neighbors. I don’t even know, was he there on Norfolk St. in Cambridge?

It’s not “if”. Only “when”. Children are the obvious and easiest target given our current approach (a potent combination of pro-Islamism and gun-free, defenseless schools). There are no concrete anti-Islamic efforts that lead any rational person to believe this country can protect itself from a great terrorist atrocity. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t quietly worry about my grammar school-aged children.
Were these two attending Menino’s Mosque or some other mosque???

We are making an entertainment venue/reality show of our defensive tactics, of thousands of cops running around in circles, spending millions of dollars trying to stop real or possible attacks 24/7 by disarming American citizens and keeping them under house arrest. It like trying to stop Hitler with the State Police.
Iran is the number one problem, but closely followed by a Odumbi in the White House. Nuke one and put the other in the mental ward.
I know 9/11 took more lives and a lot of those poor souls died a terrible death, but nothing pissed me off more then Beslan.
I understand that feeling perfectly. However, this is the depth of evil we are dealing with.
We cannot allow ourselves to underestimate what the terrorists are capable of.
