Boston Suspects' Background Threatens To Derail Immigration Bill Some Republicans voice second thoughts about immigration reform legislation in light of the revelation that the Boston bombing suspects are ethnic Chechens who came to the U.S. from Russia.
Given the events of this week, it's important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system, Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said at a hearing on the immigration reform bill.
By Lisa Mascaro April 19, 2013 WASHINGTON The background of the Boston bombing suspects quickly emerged Friday as a potential hurdle to immigration reform, as renewed fears of terrorism gave conservative opponents a fresh argument against a proposed new law.
"Given the events of this week, it's important for us to understand the gaps and loopholes in our immigration system," Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said at a hearing.
"How can individuals evade authorities and plan such attacks on our soil?" he asked. "How do we ensure that people who wish to do us harm are not eligible for benefits under the immigration laws, including this new bill before us?"
Conservative commentators echoed Grassley.
The proposed law's "sponsors should delay debate on the bill until there is a full and complete account of how the children who became terrorists came into the country," wrote Hugh Hewitt, a radio host, referring to the brothers who are suspected of planting two bombs at the Boston Marathon that killed three people and injured more than 170.
After it became known that the older brother had died in a shootout with police, Ann Coulter tweeted: "It's too bad Suspect # 1 won't be able to be legalized by Marco Rubio, now."

If I were in Boston today, I wouldn’t have had any issue staying off the street but sitting in my home you can bet I would have been armed and safe.
I noticed the hat right away..teenagers nowadays do NOT wear their hat backwards..you might find a few here and there but the whole hat backwards thing was SO 80s and early 90s..you dont see that anymore..I did make the mistake of thinking Tamerlan was Iranian..the dark skin fooled me since he looks so similar to my friends brother who is Iranian
It shouldn’t have to take something like...the bill is bad enough on its own.
Outstanding!
good one!
No, that makes no sense. However, if you follow what you're supposed to do in a newspaper and lead with the relevant facts instead of obscure ones, it does make sense:
Some Republicans voice second thoughts about immigration reform legislation in light of the revelation that the Boston bombing suspects are, as numerous people predicted, ethnic Chechens who came to the U.S. from Russia Moslem terrorists from a foreign hell-hole.
What I want to know is how many Chechens are now living here in the US?
And yet Jennifer Griffin explained to the Friends this morning that because he wore his baseball cap backwards, he was just like any American kid. Yeah, right!
If it derails it I cheer the terrorists!
I doubt it, too. Dead Americans don’t matter to the Rubio crowd, only appeasing the parasitic immigrants.
Like Ed “the swimmer” Kennedy, the destruction of America is irrelevant to their hubris.
Silver linings. I like ‘em.
Fantastic!!!
No law-breaker, ESPECIALLY illegal alien invaders from the Mexican /US Border should receive ANY Federal aid, other than minimal prison food in outdoor prisons.
One less than a couple days ago.
The sad thing is that the POS perp was 'legal' already. He came here totally legally -- years ago.
My question is WHY?
They come here hating this country. They have no respect for our values and customs. They have no intention of assimilating --- what ever the hell that means anymore.
Why do we have this notion that we must admit these people who add nothing, drain our resources, and cause us only grief?
The industrial revolution is long over. We do not have the need for thousands of unskilled laborers any longer. So why do we allow totally unskilled immigrants, or even those with common skills that many Americans alread have, to enter?
Trouble is, it ain't working this time. The bombers were radical muzzies, everyone knows it, and the pResident supports them.
I'm sorry, but too many people (on both sides of the divide) were deeply affected by this heinous act, and watched all of the pertinent information trickle out over the last few days. The truth of what they witnessed with their own eyes, has affected them.
The MSM can spin all they want, but it's too late for them to fool most Americans. This was too big for even some low info voters to miss.
Its in the Al Qaeda handbook that in order to look the part you have to ACT American..wear the typical American clothing..I guess that handbook must be from the 80s cause no one does that anymore..kids nowadays dont do it, not even rappers do, they would look like dorks
The only immigrants who should be allowed are the ones who love America before they ever get here.
Watching the ball game and they were talking about Tigers catcher Brayan Peña saying that his old country (Cuba) turned their back on him and without America, he and his family would have nothing. He was talking about how inconceivable the Boston bombing is to him.
