I just got off the phone with Army Master Sergeant. C. J. Grisham, a serving American soldier and veteran of the the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who recently was illegally disarmed by the Temple Police Department while out for a walk with his son.
We live out in the country in Texas, near Temple, he told me. My son and I were on a ten-mile hike so that he could earn his hiking merit badge its the last badge he needs to become an Eagle Scout. But half way into the hike, Grisham said, a police officer pulled up. Initially, he was cordial and he asked what we were doing. Grisham told him. Then he looked at my rifle. I carry a rifle any time I walk around because there are feral hogs and cougars and things like that.
From here, things took a turn for the worse.
Where you going with that rifle? he asked me. I said, does it matter? Am I breaking any laws? Then, he says, the officer grabbed the rifle without telling me but it was attached to me. My immediate reaction as a combat veteran was to grab it back and then take a step back. I asked him what he was doing. So he pulled his gun on me. Then I thought about my son, so I put my hands off my gun and he told me to move over to the car. Luckily my son had the video camera to document the hike for his merit badge. I told him to turn it on.

They talk about him like he’s some kind of freaky, leftwing exhibitionist.
It is pretty bad when Police officers don’t know the law. His department should be ashamed of him.
Scary.
"I ask about his son. Ive tried to tell my son that this isnt normal; that police officers dont walk around doing this. Hes developed an unrealistic fear of police officers. We were bowling yesterday and he freaked out when a police officer walked in. Hes traumatized by the incident seeing a gun pulled on his dad."
Hey, maybe this kid won't flinch when they shoot his dog? I hope the father knows well enough to NOT seek "professional" councilling for his son.
The police don’t have a case here.
Does anyone know why cops do this?
Because they can-—and get away with it.
I am willing to bet not a cop on that scene has ever served in the military.
By the way don’t they have any physical requirements out there, That cop weighed in a 270 at least.,
Didn’t this cop go through any training? Back in the day I spent 27 weeks in training for my job as a police officer, much of it learning the law ... what I could and couldn’t do with regard to the constitution and the general laws of the land.
Sounds like this officer was hired off the street, given a badge and gun and told ... go get the bad guys.
Stupid cops like these are going to want the good guys on their side when TSHTF.
These idiot cops had better learn to beg in Spanish/Drug cartel speak.
“To protect our pensions and to serve our union.”
> The police dont have a case here.
No they dont but as former LEO I know why they pulled the guy over to question him which they are completely in their rights to do so f they observe an activity that could be construed as questionable or suspicious. His appearance and the appearance of the type weapon he was carrying. I will guarantee you that the officers wouldn’t have been so “cordial” if the soldier’s son and the camera weren’t present (witnesses). The soldier’s behavior was a little confrontational which they probably aren’t used to out in the neck of those woods.
I would be leary of him based on what Michael Yon has to say:
“the appearance of the type weapon he was carrying”?
It’s because it’s black, right? Scary black gun. Zoiks!
Or maybe he has a sensitivity to injustice.
Not sure about Texas, but in a lot of places you can’t carry a rifle ‘in the field’ without a hunting license. Did Grisham have a valid one?
Log-in and password required. Why is that? Trying to make business?
I already figured and know that and more to what was really going on here.
I would be leary of him based on what he himself has to say.
This is an ongoing story. Its been FReeped 5-6 times in the last 10 days. New and contradictory info keeps evolving. Often from Grisham himself.
This guy is an activist that crossed a line with a local LEO, and now he’s in trouble.
Folks, you want a 2nd Amendment hero and a reason to hate all cops?
Then look elsewhere. Grisham ain’t no poster boy for gun rights.
Nah. Pretty commonplace. It's not like a cop has to be smart or anything. Apparantly in Texas the dumber the better.
