ONE man here weighs just 77 pounds. Another, 98. Last thing I knew, I weighed 132, but that was a month ago.
Ive been on a hunger strike since Feb. 10 and have lost well over 30 pounds. I will not eat until they restore my dignity.
Ive been detained at Guantánamo for 11 years and three months. I have never been charged with any crime. I have never received a trial.
I could have been home years ago no one seriously thinks I am a threat but still I am here. Years ago the military said I was a guard for Osama bin Laden, but this was nonsense, like something out of the American movies I used to watch. They dont even seem to believe it anymore. But they dont seem to care how long I sit here, either.
When I was at home in Yemen, in 2000, a childhood friend told me that in Afghanistan I could do better than the $50 a month I earned in a factory, and support my family. Id never really traveled, and knew nothing about Afghanistan, but I gave it a try.
I was wrong to trust him. There was no work. I wanted to leave, but had no money to fly home. After the American invasion in 2001, I fled to Pakistan like everyone else. The Pakistanis arrested me when I asked to see someone from the Yemeni Embassy. I was then sent to Kandahar, and put on the first plane to Gitmo.

That me ... make standing on left in front of Yemeni embassy ... make innocent ... just before get capture by infidel dogs.
If you are on a hunger strike, then you are killing yourself retard.
That'll be him, in his cousin's white pickup.
The NYTs wants me to feel sorry for this guy who went to Afghanistan to be a professional jihadi and got more than he bargained for?
Has Gitmo turned in to Dick Turban’s goulag?
Gee, I couldn’t ask for a nicer thing to happen to these feral vermin than dying.
>>> Ive been on a hunger strike since Feb. 10 and have lost well over 30 pounds.
This guy can go into some diet business and make a ton!////

LOL! STOP! You’re killing ME!
or
Play stupid games,win stupid prizes.
But seriously Samir, I’m trying to lose a few pounds too.
I know it can be tough. Best of luck to you.
Have Fed advertise Gitmo as the latest weight loss program, guaranteed to lose (more than) 30 lb of weight.
NEW YORK TIMES:
Nazis Massacre 50,000 people at Babi Yar. Event is multiply sourced, independently verified. For the sake of journalism we get ‘both sides’ of the dismissive story - in a small column at the end of the paper.
Guy says he’s unfairly detained. Big story. Opinions include: that of guy detained.
THANKS GRAY LADY!
How’s that hope and change working out for ya?
“Ive been detained at Guantánamo for 11 years and three months. I have never been charged with any crime. I have never received a trial.”
Stop whining and die with dignity.
LOL. Somehow for the NYT, it always comes back to some poor worker being oppressed by the Imperialist for trying to earn a couple extra dollars. I half expected this to turn into a plea that Gitmo detainees get amnesty and Welfare benefits.
You are really good at identifications.
I don’t necessarily believe this guy is telling the truth.
OTOH, I don’t think anyone should be held indefinitely without a trial or hearing to determine their identity and appropriate status. Military guys make mistakes in captures, just like cops make mistakes in arrests.
The core problem here is that we keep bouncing back and forth between treating these guys as POWs and criminals, when they really do not fit into either category well.
We need a new category, with appropriate trials to determine whether a particular individual fits into that category and then determination as to length of imprisonment or other appropriate punishment.
We used to have a third category other than regular criminal and legitimate POW. That category was pirate, who were considered to be illegitimate combatants at permanent war with the rest of humanity. As such, they often received only a brief trial to determine whether they actually were pirates, followed immediately by swift execution.
OTOH, very often men claimed (sometimes accurately) that they had been forced to serve with the pirates for their navigational or other skills, and they received a more formal trial in a conventional court to determine whether their claim was true.
Seems to me something similar is appropriate for terrorists.
The NYT should move to Yemen!
It is Barrys plan to close Gitmo.
Gitmo is killing me! Let me go so I can kill you!
